The jury is not yet finalised, so the court needs to narrow down the final group to 12 jurors and six alternates. That process was expected to start about 30 minutes ago.

Then the jury will be sworn in and we can expect opening statements from both legal teams.

Once opening statements are over, the first witness will be called.

Outside the courthouse this morning we heard from Holly Baird, a representative for Diddy.

Baird said the whole family will be here to support him today, and that Diddy was feeling "upbeat and ready for his side of the story to be told".

In the photo above, Diddy's mother Janice Combs was seen arriving at court earlier today.

Sean "Diddy" Combs is one of the most successful music moguls in the US. He’s had many aliases, going by Puffy, Puff Daddy, P Diddy, Love, and Brother Love at one point or another.

His career has spanned decades, from launching the careers of Notorious B.I.G and Mary J. Blige in the 1990s, to a Grammy nomination for a solo album in 2023.

Though his discography as a rapper is well-known, his vast empire was built through his label - Bad Boy Records.

Over the years, it has collaborated with Faith Evans, Ma$e, 112, Mariah Carey and Jennifer Lopez.

Outside of music, he has also appeared in dozens of movies and TV shows - including starring alongside Russel Brand and Jonah Hill in the 2010 comedy Get Him to The Greek.

  4. What happened at jury selection?published at 13:20 British Summer Time 12 May

I was in court as Judge Arun Subramanian weeded through juror after juror, trying to find the 12 that will eventually decide Combs’ trial.

What we learned was that basically every juror has some familiarity with this case - via media coverage or social media posts.

But that did not mean jurors were ruled out. The judge asked if they were able to be impartial. The judge and both legal teams struck anyone who had biases. One man was removed for saying he doesn’t trust police, another because his wife once worked on an unrelated Diddy court case 30 years ago.

Another takeaway was that most of the potential female jurors had experienced sexual or domestic abuse, or know someone who had.

  5. What is Diddy charged with?published at 13:16 British Summer Time 12 May

Combs is facing charges that include racketeering conspiracy, sex trafficking, and transportation to engage in prostitution.

If he’s convicted, he could face life in prison.

Some of the most severe allegations fall under the racketeering charge, which includes accusations of kidnapping, drugging and coercing women into sex, and threatening them with firearms or violence.

He has pleaded not guilty to all of the charges.

Hello and welcome to our coverage of the Sean "Diddy" Combs federal sex trafficking trial.

The hip hop mogul, who is also known as "P. Diddy", "Puffy", "Puff Daddy", among other aliases, will soon appear in front of a New York City jury.

He faces charges of racketeering conspiracy, sex trafficking, and transportation to engage in prostitution.

I’m at the courthouse with my colleague Madeline Halpert, where the line to get into the building extends down several blocks. Some people have been camped out here since Sunday evening to secure a position.

The last time we saw Combs was at jury selection last week. He was in a prison jumpsuit, his hair was greyed and he wore glasses.

Jury selection took all of last week and we are expecting opening statement to begin this morning.

    Stick with us.
