Powerful explosions were seen in Beirut as Israel carried out more strikes on southern districts of the city overnight.

Israel's military says it hit weapons storage facilities belonging to Hezbollah setting off secondary explosions.

Meanwhile, Israeli officials are investigating how rockets fired from southern Lebanon on Sunday night managed to penetrate Israel's air defences and explode in the port city of Haifa, injuring several people.

And Iranian authorities have announced the resumption of air traffic after flights at some airports were cancelled, state media reported, amid Israel's warnings that it will retaliate for last week's missile attack by Tehran.

All this comes as the world begins to mark one year since the 7 October attacks by Hamas, when gunmen stormed into Israel killing 1,200 people and taking 251 hostage. Since then, nearly 42,000 people have been killed in Gaza, according to the Hamas-run health authority.
