  1. The power rests in Alan's handspublished at 22:44 BST 8 October

That's it from us here and we hope you enjoyed it.

Tomorrow we'll find out who Alan Carr picks as the first victim of this new series.

    Pray for Alan. Goodnight all.

  2. Darkness has fallen in the Scottish Highlandspublished at 22:31 BST 8 October

    Live reporter

If first impressions are anything to go by, tomorrow night will be tense. My fave moments were:

    • Kate Garraway being so nice that everyone assumed she wasn't
    • Alan Carr managing to appear guilty even before he was
    • Alan generally
    • Celia Imrie being as on edge as I was
    • Clare Balding managing to engage in some accidental sabotage

    Another night at Ardross Castle.

  3. Need a bigger Traitors fix? Check out Uncloaked after tonight's episodepublished at 22:16 BST 8 October

Ed Gamble holds a croissant in a portrait

If the regular hour-long episodes aren't enough for you to get your Traitors fix, then you can tune into The Celebrity Traitors: Uncloaked.

Following directly after the regular episodes, Ed Gamble is joined by the latest murdered and banished players to unpack all the drama.

Each episode will also feature exclusive unseen content from the castle as secrets are spilled and betrayals revealed.

  4. We continue to worry for Alanpublished at 22:12 BST 8 October

    Adam Goldsmith
    Live reporter, and wannabe Faithful

A murder in plain sight for the first killing of the series: the celebrities must touch the face of the competitor they want dead.

Alan Carr is incredulous at the news, which he says has ruined his "lovely night", seemingly forgetting that he's there for us, not him.

  5. Stephen Fry is Stephen Fryingpublished at 22:10 BST 8 October

    Hafsa Khalil
    Live reporter, and wannabe Traitor

There must be a complete works of Shakespeare here, muses Stephen Fry in a very Stephen Fry way, as Stephen Fry must.

  6. THE HORSE IS ABLAZEpublished at 22:05 BST 8 October

    Adam Goldsmith
    Live reporter, and wannabe Faithful

That's £15,000 added to the jackpot and they all look please/exhausted about it.

Goodness knows why those two things are connected, but there we are.

  7. What is happening?published at 22:02 BST 8 October

If you still know what's going on then you're doing better than the BBC brain trust here.

  8. Claudia delivers this season's first lookpublished at 21:59 BST 8 October

    Hannah Karpel
    Live reporter, and wannabe Traitor

As expected, Claudia Winkleman showed up to the first challenge in an outfit as suitable as it is iconic.

It's gothic, it's jockey. It's Adam Ant, it's Princess Anne.

  9. At least Stephen gets the jokepublished at 21:50 BST 8 October

    Adam Goldsmith
    Live reporter, and wannabe Faithful

The first mission our celebrities will face revolves around a Trojan horse, which I think we'd all have to admit is a bit on the nose.

    Stephen gets it, obviously.

  10. Alan is still having a marepublished at 21:47 BST 8 October

    Adam Goldsmith
    Live reporter, and wannabe Faithful

"Don't you think everyone knew it was me?" Alan asks as he meets his fellow Traitors in the turret.

    Yes. Yes, Alan.

  11. Alan is having a marepublished at 21:41 BST 8 October

Is Alan Carr the Linda of this season?

He seems to think so and the guilt is seeping out of him by the minute.

  12. Paloma Faith-ful (geddit?)published at 21:37 BST 8 October

Faith, whom exercises four times a week is well-prepared for the physically demanding missions

"I’m exceptional at reading people," singer-songwriter Paloma Faith told us before tonight's show.

She says some friends won’t even introduce their partner to her - they’re worried she’ll say she "doesn’t get good vibes" from them.

"I need to keep it under the radar about how good at it I am," she says.

  13. A sigh of reliefpublished at 21:34 BST 8 October

For a room full of performers there were some poor attempts at keeping a straight face there.

No murder or banishment tonight, Claudia tells the contestants.

    That's for tomorrow. Sleep well.

  14. Our final traitor: Alan Carrpublished at 21:31 BST 8 October

Alan Carr standing inside a golden photo frame with his left hand to his chin

From RuPaul's Drag Race to the Celebrity Apprentice - and now the castle turret awaits.

The comedian says he's a massive fan of the show, and that seeing the famous castle will be "like visiting the Taj Mahal or the Leaning Tower of Pisa".

And for Carr, the competition means no punchlines and all poker face.

"I’ll have to adapt; no comedy, it's one of those shows where you have to shape shift," he says.

"And then these are celebrities. They're sociopaths."

  15. And the next Traitor is... Cat Burnspublished at 21:30 BST 8 October

Anyone who knows Cat's music - a blend of gospel, pop and indie influence - understands just how well Burns can take the complex moments of life and distil them through storytelling.

But we’ll soon see that Burns isn’t always so serious - in fact she’s worried her lighter side might give her away in the game.

"I could giggle because I'm nervous about being a Faithful or I could giggle about being a Traitor," she told the BBC before going into the castle.

"I need to not giggle! If I don't giggle, I'll be fine."

  16. We have our first Traitor: Jonathan Rosspublished at 21:29 BST 8 October

It would be "lovely to be the best of all the celebrities" and win, Ross says

Presenter Jonathan Ross has just been selected as our first Traitor.

Before the show he said: "The big difference between The Celebrity Traitors and The Traitors is we do have some conception, or preconception of the people in it with us."

While Ross says it'd be "great to be both", he does think that "being a Traitor is probably more fun".

He doesn't have an "overriding" strategy, because he says "it's difficult not knowing what you or anyone else is at the moment, but likens it "juggling kittens" and "try and occupy that middle ground".

On winning, Ross states it would be "lovely to be the best of all the celebrities", which he jokes is something he has "long suspected" is true, although "weirdly, the rest of the world doesn't agree".

  17. Faithful or Traitor - which would you be?published at 21:27 BST 8 October

    Hannah Karpel

Our celebrities are sat at the Round Table and patiently waiting to learn their fate.

The game is about to truly begin.

Would you be a Traitor or a Faithful? Let us know at the top of the page.

  18. Postpublished at 21:24 BST 8 October

"He's absolutely adorable or he is up to something", says Celia Imrie as she helpfully sums up what this show is all about.

There's a lot of side-eyeing going on already before the Traitors have been nominated.

  19. They've dug their own graves but six are safe for nowpublished at 21:22 BST 8 October

Protected from the first murder after the shield-finding game are:

    • Jonathan Ross
    • Joe Marler
    • Joe Wilkinson
    • Kate Garraway
    • Charlotte Church
    • Celia Imrie

    So that's nice for them.
