    All 60 Members of the Senedd (MSs) are due to nominate the new first minister within the next hour.

    They will meet in the Siambr at 11:00 BST, with the session expected to last about 30 mins.

    Once assembled, the presiding officer - or Llywydd - Elin Jones will ask for nominations for first minister.

    Labour will nominate Morgan, while the Conservatives and Plaid Cymru will nominate their own leaders.

    There is then a roll-call vote of MSs where each politician will be asked alphabetically who they support.

    If confirmed, Morgan's name will go to the King for approval before she can be sworn in.

    Gething succeeded Mark Drakeford as first minister in March but lasted just 118 days in the hot seat.

    He was the first black leader of a national government in Europe and hoped to lead a Wales "full of ambition and unity".

    But it ended acrimoniously when was ousted from the top job after several cabinet members resigned in unison, calling for him to stand down.

    This made Gething the shortest-serving first minister in Wales, with his time largely overshadowed by a row over donations accepted during his leadership campaign and a decision to sack a cabinet member.

    Her career in politics spans more than 30 years.

    Brought up in Ely, Cardiff, her upbringing was dominated by politics, with her dad formerly leading South Glamorgan council and her mum working as a councillor.

    She worked as a researcher at S4C and the BBC before swapping broadcasting for parliament in 1994 when she became the youngest Member of the European Parliament, aged 27.

    She has been a member of the House of Lord since 2011 - holding the formal title of Baroness Morgan of Ely - and has been Member of the Senedd for Mid and West Wales since 2016.
