Many fans have been making a real day of it, with people gathering in Wembley from the early hours this morning.

Our reporter Charlotte Gallagher was speaking to a group of friends just before 10:00, who said they were having fun meeting fellow Swifties.

They said they would take the opportunity to trade bracelets among the crowds and enjoy a picnic lunch in the nice weather. They also praised the community spirit of the concert-goers where “everyone is there for each other”.

It’s the first time Swift has performed since her shows in Vienna were cancelled due to a security threat.

It’s also her first date in the UK since a knife attack at a dance workshop themed around her music in Southport – which left three children dead and nine more injured.

There’s a lot of speculation she’ll address the events, providing a moment of unity and catharsis for her fans. If she does, it’s most likely to take place during the acoustic section at the end of her show – where Swift takes to the stage alone and plays two “surprise songs” every night.

As is often the case, the star might let her music do the talking. When a fan died of cardiac arrest following an Eras Tour concert in Rio de Janeiro last year, Swift did not address the incident at her next show – saying on social media that she was “overwhelmed by grief when I even try to talk about it”.

However, fans interpreted her choice of the song Bigger Than the Whole Sky as a tribute to 23-year-old Ana Clara Benevides Machado.

“Did some bird flap its wings over in Asia?/ Did some force take you because I didn’t pray?” Swift sang.

“Goodbye, goodbye, goodbye/ You were bigger than the whole sky.”

Taylor Swift and London are getting back together, with the global superstar kicking off her first of five shows at Wembley this evening.

If you’re feeling a sense of deja vu, you’d be forgiven - in June, Swift played three sold-out shows at Wembley. But, it wasn’t “so long, London” for long, with another five sold-out concerts set for the stadium this week.

There is a heightened sense of security tonight, after Swift’s previously scheduled shows in Vienna were cancelled over a foiled plan by a supporter of Islamic State to attack the concert.

The Met Police is assuring fans that there is "nothing to indicate" a further threat in London, but we can expect tight security measures to ensure the safety of fans tonight.

Stick with us as the clock ticks down to Swift’s highly-anticipated return to the stage.
