“My family lives here. My friends live here. I’m scared, but I don’t want to leave.”
Those are the words of 31-year-old Aliona Guseva, who lives in an apartment in central Kyiv – around 50 metres from a residential block that was hit by Russian strikes earlier today.
“I was sleeping in bed when I heard the explosion and woke up to the missiles. I could see it all through my window,” she says.
Aliona describes seeing the explosions, and people desperately seeking safety.
Aliona currently has no intention of leaving Kyiv, despite describing it as “two completely different cities” between day and night.
“This is my city. I don’t want to be a tourist in another country. I want to live in my home.”
