James Wharton has kept Stockton South for the Conservatives.
Labour's Iain Wright saw his majority in Hartlepool almost halved from 5,509 in 2010 to 3,024 this time around, a 35.9% share.
UKIP's Phillip Broughton surged into second with 28%, a rise of 21% since 2010, ahead of Conservative Richard Royal with 20.9%.
Liberal Democrat Hilary Allen finished second last with just 761 votes, 1.9% share down from 17.1% in 2010.
Roberta Blackman-Woods has retained City of Durham for Labour.
Liberal Democrat Tim Farron retained Westmorland and Lonsdale although he saw his majority drop by 3,315 to 8,949, from 60% to 51.5%.
Conservative Ann Myatt came second with 33.2%, UKIP's Alan Piper third with 6.2%, Labour's John Bateson fourth with 5.4% and Green candidate Chris Loynes last with 3.7%.
Ian Mearns has held Gateshead for Labour.
Local election results are starting to come in, and Labour seems to be holding on to the many of council seats up for grabs in the North East.
The party has won 24 out of 25 wards in Sunderland, with UKIP coming second in more than half of them.
Results are still being counted for Gateshead, Newcastle, North Tyneside and South Tyneside councils.
Labour's Pat Glass saw her majority in Durham North West rise by 2,444 to 10,056, with 46.9% of the votes.
Conservative Charlotte Haitham Taylor came second with a 23.4% share with UKIP's Bruce Reid third with 17%, up from 2.9% in 2010.
Liberal Democrat Owen Temple finished fourth after his vote share fell from 24.9% in 2010 to 9.1%.
The former seat of Tony Blair, Sedgefield, has been retained by Labour's Phil Wilson.

Helen Goodman has retained Bishop Auckland for Labour, which has held the seat since 1935.
UKIP's Jonathon Arnott saw his vote share in Easington rise from 4.7% in 2010 to 18.7% tonight as he finished second behind Labour's Grahame Morris, whose 21,132 votes represented a 61% share.
Liberal Democrat Luke Armstrong secured just 834 votes, a 2.4% share, down from 16% in 2010.

Tim Farron says fear may have won the day after the Liberal Democrats suffered an awful start to the election with their vote shares being hugely cut in the North East.
The Lib Dem candidate for Westmorland and Lonsdale said the Conservatives had played on people's fears of the Scottish National Party.
Labour's Kevan Jones increased his majority in Durham North by 1,568 with 22,047 votes representing a 54.9% share.
Laetitia Glossop came second for the Conservatives with 20.9% of the votes, followed by UKIP's Malcolm Bint who saw his share rise from 3.3% in 2010 to 16% this time around.
The Liberal Democrats' Peter Maughan saw his vote share drop from 21% in 2010 to 5.1%.
