She says the election of Jeremy Corbyn as Labour leader was the most "exciting and exhilarating" moment she'd seen in party politics during her lifetime.

She says the party now has "30 days to be on the right side of history".

"Thirty days to create the opportunity for a fairer, better, more equal society."

"This cannot be allowed to continue," says Ian Lavery, with considerable passion and volume.

"It's 2017 and the Labour Party will stand for it no more. It doesn't have to be this way."

The Labour manifesto will speak to the young and old, he says, protecting everything from Surestart children's centres to free bus passes.

  8. 'Enormous enthusiasm' for tactical voting - Lucaspublished at 11:07 British Summer Time 9 May 2017

    Caroline Lucas

Green Party co-leader Caroline Lucas says she's detecting "enormous enthusiasm" for the idea of "progressive" anti-Tory alliances among grassroots activists and the public at large.

They see it as “grown up politics", she says, and a recognition "that if we want to avoid a massive Tory landslide we can do that, but we need to act now, not wait until June 9th to wish we had done things differently".

The Labour and Lib Dem leaderships, however, have been “less forthcoming” about the idea, which Ms Lucas calls “desperately disappointing”.

  9. Another 'progressive alliance' in Ed Balls' old seatpublished at 11:03 British Summer Time 9 May 2017

The Green Party says it won't stand in the seats of Pudsey and Morley and Outwood in exchange for Labour candidate pledges to "respect Green values".

Both seats are held by Conservatives - Morley and Outwood belonged to former shadow chancellor Ed Balls until his defenestration in 2015.

  15. Small providers key to energy fix, says Farronpublished at 10:38 British Summer Time 9 May 2017

    Press Association

Tory plans to cap energy tariffs are a "gimmick" Lib Dem leader Tim Farron says. He told PA:

    Quote Message

Let's remember what this will mean, the reality is energy prices will go up before this happens, it will mean bad news for the small providers. The way to get energy prices down is to invest in widening the markets, so you have to get more small players, more competition. That was working, and it is the Conservative decisions in the last couple of years to undermine those small energy providers which has made prices go through the roof."

  16. Greens give way in Robertson's seatpublished at 10:30 British Summer Time 9 May 2017

SNP deputy leader Angus Robertson, above with Nicola Sturgeon, will not face a pro-independence candidate in his general election battle to retain his seat in Moray - after the Greens confirmed they would not stand.

The Highlands and Islands Green Party said it would not field candidates in any of the six Highland constituencies.

It's an indication of an emerging "progressive alliance" between the party and the SNP.

The decision is expected to boost the SNP's chances of retaining the Moray seat. It is one of the Conservatives' key election targets.
