  1. Leaders' opening pitchespublished at 20:20 British Summer Time 18 May 2017

In her opening pitch, Green co-leader Caroline Lucas says: "I'm going to be straight with you - never in our lifetime has the future been so uncertain" but we can "come together" as we did after World War Two.

Plaid leader Leanne Wood says "our vision and our values can benefit all" and her party has "a positive post-Brexit plan". She accuses Theresa May of being "scared to come here tonight and discuss real issues".

SNP leader Nicola Sturgeon says we need "strong voices to stand up against Tory cuts" and "Scotland's future in Scotland's hands"'.

UKIP's Paul Nuttall says they are the "one party committed to the Brexit we voted for and a clear and honest commitment to reducing immigration".

Lib Dem leader Tim Farron says he sees "the decent Britain I love under threat" and says the Conservatives "backed by Jeremy Corbyn and Nigel Farage are taking us towards extreme Brexit".

  2. Sturgeon: Nuttall is May's spokesmanpublished at 20:19 British Summer Time 18 May 2017

Nicola Sturgeon says there is a danger that "we've gone from Brexit to this extreme form of Brexit" where we are running the risk of jettisoning many of the benefits that come from EU membership. Scottish universities are worried about losing students and top academic staff, she says. She suggests Mr Nuttall is Mrs May's "spokesman" - the UKIP leader smiles.

  3. Nuttall: May must show backbone on Brexitpublished at 20:18 British Summer Time 18 May 2017

UKIP's Paul Nuttall is on familiar territory with the Brexit question. He says any deal will be better because "it couldn't be much worse" than it has been while the UK has been in the EU. He urges the PM to "be bold on immigration" and "say no to any divorce bill" from the EU. He says Mrs May must "have backbone" in dealing with the EU.

  16. Iain Duncan Smith: Let's move away from 'death tax'published at 18:16 British Summer Time 18 May 2017

    BBC News Channel

    IDS

Conservative former Cabinet minister Iain Duncan Smith says today's manifesto represents "the beginning of a rebalancing" after the situation which prompted him to resign - "weight being placed too much on working-age people".

He defends his party's proposals on social care, stressing: "You don't have to contribute if your assets are below £100,000 - which means a wider base and beginning to spread the load.

"Let's move away from the idea of a 'death tax' - social care has to be paid for, and it's only fair and reasonable to contribute and help those who have no assets."

  18. Conservatives say 'public consent' needed for indyref2published at 18:09 British Summer Time 18 May 2017

    Yes/No stickers

A second independence referendum will not be held unless there is "public consent" for it to happen, the Conservative election manifesto says.

It also pledges there will be no vote on the issue "until the Brexit process has played out".

But the manifesto, which was launched by Theresa May in Halifax, does not specify what "public consent" means.

First Minister Nicola Sturgeon wants a referendum to be held in the autumn of next year or spring of 2019.

Scottish Labour responded to the manifesto saying the Conservatives' "ideological obsession with a hard Brexit" had allowed the SNP to kick-start a fresh campaign for independence.

Jeremy Corbyn is in Southall, west London, where he says "to those who seek to divide us, there is only one answer, reunite ourselves, and get even stronger every day".

He claims reelecting the Conservatives would see "£60bn handed back to wealthiest while our public services go underfunded and homeless sleep on our streets".

He mocks what he calls the Tories' "one really brilliant, great big cutting-edge 21st-Century idea - bring back fox-hunting".
