Gower and the Vale of Clwyd are two of the most marginal seats in this general election. Both are Tory held with tiny majority of 27 and 237 respectively.

The Tories shouldn't lose either if the exit poll is right, but the Britain Elects Twitter feed is reporting that the Conservatives are worried about them.

Caroline Lucas, the Green Party co-leader, responds to the exit poll.

She says any MPs from her party will never back a Conservative government, and would back a Labour-led one on a case-by-case basis.

“This exit poll is remarkable. If true then the Conservatives look likely to pay the price for their reckless election gamble," Ms Lucas says.

"Any Green MPs elected tonight will do all they can to keep the Tories from Number 10, and back a Labour-led government on a case by case basis."

    Election 2017

The BBC's Julian Worricker says there's "anxiety" among the Conservatives about Brighton Kemptown, which was held by Tory Simon Kirby with a majority of just 690 votes.

In Brighton Pavilion, the seat that was held by the Greens' Caroline Lucas, there are signs of a progressive alliance having come into play, he says.

In Hove, Labour is reasonably hopeful it will be able to hold on to that seat, he adds.

    Election 2017

    Priti Patel

International Development Secretary Priti Patel, asked about the PM's future, says it's about "looking at the big decisions, and the big choices" and who you want in charge of those.

She says it's "not right to say we haven't focused on Brexit", highlighting the PM's 12-point plan, whereas "others want to frustrate Brexit and Labour doesn't have a coherent plan".

She also defends Mrs May's decision to call an election, saying she was "clear" it was about "looking to the future and strengthening her hand".

    Professor John Curtice

These were Conservative targets but the high youth turnout is believed to have helped the Labour vote.
