What happened on the last day of the election campaign?published at 22:33 Greenwich Mean Time 11 December 2019
Well, that was the last day of the 2019 election campaign. So what happened?
- Jeremy Corbyn said the Labour message was "getting through" and urged his supporters to knock on doors tomorrow "like our life depends on it".
- Boris Johnson said the race was getting "tighter and tighter", telling supporters they have a "national duty to find every vote to save our country from disaster".
- Lib Dem leader Jo Swinson said there was "a real buzz" around her party, saying it had been “a privilege and honour” to lead the party during the election campaign - adding it had "certainly been a learning curve” for her after only becoming leader of the party in July.
- SNP leader Nicola Sturgeon, who has been campaigning in Edinburgh, urged Scottish voters to back her party, saying that supporting others "risks helping the Tories". We look at the potential for tactical voting in Scotland here.
- Brexit Party leader Nigel Farage says he fears a Tory majority would see "Brexit sold out" - he's sounded a lot less positive about Boris Johnson's deal in recent days. Read more about how the Brexit Party wants the UK to leave the EU - and its positions on other key issues - here.
- The Green Party has also been pushing its core messages - with the party's co-leaders promising Green MPs would respond to the "climate emergency alarm". Read about the issue of climate change at this election.
- And finally, with trust a big theme of this campaign, Plaid Cymru leader Adam Price published a draft law which would make lying by politicians a criminal offence.
