Trump on why he’s qualified to decide whether to send American troops to war. "I think the main thing is I have that judgement. I know what’s going on. I’ve called so many of the shots. I happened to hear Hillary Clinton saying I was not against the war in Iraq. I was totally against the war in Iraq. I said it’s going to totally destabilise the Middle East." He says under Obama and Clinton, "the generals have been reduced to rubble … I can see General George Patton spinning in his grave" because of IS.

Clinton: "We have to defeat ISIS. We're not putting ground troops in Iraq ever again and we're not putting troops into Syria. We're going to defeat ISIS without committing American ground troops." She says defeating the group is her "highest counter-terrorism goal".

On her support for US intervention in Libya, Clinton says: "There's no difference between my opponent (Trump) and myself. He's on record as supporting intervention in Libya when Gaddafi was threatening to massacre the population." She stands by the intervention, saying it saved further bloodshed and not a single American life was lost.
