  2. Charlie Sheen pens open letter about diagnosis

    Charlie Sheen has written an open letter giving details of his diagnosis and how he has been dealing with it.

    He also details how he had paid people to keep quiet about his condition and his plans to move forward.

    This ends today. I'm claiming back my freedom. The scales of justice will swiftly and righteously re-balance themselves. In conclusion, I accept this condition not as a curse or scourge, but rather as an opportunity and a challenge. An opportunity to help others. A challenge to better myself.

  4. Peter Andre: 'No way' I'll win Strictly

    He's seen as one of the favourites to win this year's Strictly Come Dancing, but Peter Andre says there is "no way" he will win.

    He said: "If it comes to technical ability, there's no way. I'll never get my foot that way, my shoulder this way... If they based it on performance, I could go really far. But I know my limits. I'm not the best singer, I'm not the best dancer."

    We wouldn't bet against you though, Mr Andre.

    "Music is something I’ve always wanted to do but I never realised just how much goes into it."

    Those are the words of Hailee Steinfeld - star of Pitch Perfect 2, Ender's Game and True Grit (which earned her an Oscar nomination at the age of 14) - as she prepares to launch a musical career.

    Her debut EP came out on Friday, and she's been telling us about some of her first, cringeworthy recording sessions.

    "You go in and it’s new people and they say, 'what are we going to write about?' So you end up awkwardly telling them about what’s going on in your life. It can be really weird."

    Luckily, the 18-year-old eventually teamed up with writing duo Justin Tranter and Julia Michaels. Together, they came up with a US top 40 hit in their first day in the studio.

  9. Rod Stewart joins BBC Music Awards line-up

    Rock legend Rod Stewart will perform at this year's BBC Music Awards in Birmingham, it has been announced.

    He'll join young whippersnappers like One Direction, Ellie Goulding and Little Mix on the bill. 

    Other performers announced today include singer-songwriter James Bay, country duo The Shires and former Beautiful South singers Paul Heaton and Jacqui Abbott.

    The awards take place on 10 December, and will be screened on BBC One.

  10. Charlie Sheen: I'm not going to be the HIV poster boy

    Charlie Sheen's doctor, Robert Huizenga, told Matt Lauer the actor was "absolutely healthy" and the HIV virus "isn't going to shorten his life".

    Sheen added he planned to help others affected by HIV:

    I don’t feel the sigma anymore. I want to better myself and help other people so they may come forward and say 'thanks Charlie' for kicking the door open.

    If there was one guy on this planet to contract this who’s going to deliver a cure it’s me. I’m not going to be the poster man for this, but I will not shun away from responsibilities that draw me to helping others and help deliver a cure.

  12. Charlie Sheen: I hope the media will be forgiving

    Charlie Sheen has said he hopes the media will respond positively after revealing his diagnosis.

    I would hope they’re more forgiving than some of the garbage I’ve read over the past couple of days. They've said I knew I had Aids and I was intentionally spreading it - that’s far from the truth as anything could be.

    The actor also said he recently told his 31-year-old daughter about his diagnosis:

    I told my oldest daughter Cassandra the other night. It hit her hard but she’s tough like her dad. I said I’m sorry I didn’t tell you sooner but I didn’t want to burden you with the stress.

  13. Charlie Sheen: It's impossible I've transmitted virus to anyone else

    Charlie Sheen said it was "impossible" he had transmitted the HIV virus to anyone else.

    He added he was "not entirely sure" how he contracted the virus, but it "definitely" did not involve needles.

  15. Charlie Sheen 'paid millions' to keep people quiet

    Charlie Sheen revealed he paid off people "into the millions" to keep quiet about his HIV diagnosis.

    He also said a prostitute had taken a picture of his medication and threatened to sell it to newspapers.  

    I always led with condoms and honesty, but soon the truth became treason... [It became an] extortion circle of deceit. I trusted them - they were in my inner circle.

  16. Charlie Sheen talks about his diagnosis

    Talking to Matt Lauer on NBC's Today show, Charlie Sheen said:

    I am here to admit I am HIV positive – I have to put an end to this onslaught of attacks and untruths and very harmful stories that are threatening the health of so many others which couldn't be farther from the truth.

    The actor said he was diagnosed four years ago, after he began suffering with a series of cluster headaches.

    I was hospitalised - I thought I had a brain tumour. After tests they said this was the situation. It’s a hard three letters to absorb.
