    Dave Grohl is to perform at the Oscars for the first time next week. 

    The Academy has confirmed the Foo Fighters frontman will be giving a "special performance" but has given no further details.

    It has also announced some of the other presenters -  Morgan Freeman, John Legend. JJ Abrams and Henry Cavill - who'll be appearing at the 28 February ceremony in Los Angeles.

    In a possibly risky move, they've also invited Sacha Baron Cohen to present. Wonder if he'll keep to the script?

    Lady Gaga made a surprise appearance on the catwalk last night at Marc Jacobs' New York fashion show. 

    Apparently, there was no applause or audible sign of recognition from the crowd when she strutted down the runway.

    The pop star had no trouble with the towering platform shoes she was wearing as she strutted in front of an audience that included actress Maggie Gyllenhaal.

  3. Vinyl gets second seriespublished at 10:04 Greenwich Mean Time 19 February 2016

    New drama Vinyl has been renewed for a second series - after just one episode. 

    The show, created by Martin Scorsese and Sir Mick Jagger, tells the story of a 1970s music executive, played by Bobby Cannavale. 

    It airs on HBO in the US and on Sky Atlantic in the UK.

    Emily Blunt is reportedly in talks to step into Mary Poppins' shoes in a planned Disney sequel, to be directed by Rob Marshall.

    According to Variety, external, the new film will take place in Depression-era London 20 years after its predecessor and will take its storylines from PL Travers’ other books about the magical flying nanny.

    No pressure, Emily, but Dame Julie Andrews won an Oscar for her performance in the 1964 original.

    An Aston Martin DB10, one of 10 made especially for the James Bond film Spectre, has sold at auction for £2.4m.

    The new owner won't be able to use it to pop down the shops or do the school run, though, as the Warwickshire-made model can't be driven on public roads.

    Other lots that went under the hammer at Christie's in London on Thursday included the Day of the Dead skeleton costume worn by Daniel Craig in the film, which sold for £98,500.

    An Omega wristwatch that Craig also wore in the film was snapped up for £92,500, while an octopus ring seen on Christoph Waltz's finger raised £32,500 for charity.

    Nick Grimshaw has announced he won't be returning as a judge on The X Factor. 

    He confirmed the news on his Radio 1 Breakfast show this morning, saying he had quit the ITV show and had not been fired.

    "It's a great show and I loved it," he said. "But it's definitely a once in a lifetime-style thing," he said.

    Louis Tomlinson from One Direction and former X Factor judge Louis Walsh are reportedly being lined up as potential replacements.

  7. Top Gear starts filmingpublished at 08:50

    Last night Matt LeBlanc tweeted the news that the new series of Top Gear starts filming today. 

    Sounds like the new team are getting on well - so far. 

    The Episodes star has also given an interview to Top Gear Magazine, external in which he says the best drive of his life was on a motorcycle during his honeymoon.

    The former Friends actor was married to Melissa McKnight from 2003 to 2006.
