The award was presented to Sarah Lancashire by James Nesbitt, who said he was wearing a badge supporting a campaign called Equal Representation for Actresses, external. He said:

Mosaku won for playing Gloria Taylor, the mother of 10-year-old Damilola Taylor, who was killed in 2000. His family's story was turned into a 90-minute BBC One drama, which has already been named best single drama tonight.
