  5. Sandra Bullock ages backwardspublished at 03:48 Greenwich Mean Time 5 March 2018

    Sandra BullockImage source, Reuters

As Sandra Bullock takes to the stage to present best cinematography, she asks producers to dim the lights to make her look younger.

"Oooh, that's good, a little lower," she says, joking that she wants to look like she's still in her forties.

She then goes on to introduce the "four men and one trail-blazing woman" who are nominated in this category.

  6. Young star of Silent Child was confident of winpublished at 03:46 Greenwich Mean Time 5 March 2018

    Rachel ShentonImage source, Reuters

Rachel Shenton seemed unsure about the film's prospects of winning when we spoke to her on the red carpet earlier.

She said she wasn't thinking about the possibility - but did say she would celebrate with "mugs of champagne" if they did.

One person who might not be surprised though is Maisie herself - she'd told the BBC she thought they'd win the award.

But asked who she was looking forward to meeting, she said Donald Duck - when she goes to Disneyland tomorrow.

  7. WINNER: Best original screenplaypublished at 03:37 Greenwich Mean Time 5 March 2018

    Jordan PeeleImage source, Reuters

Get Out - written by Jordan Peele

“This means so much to me,” says Peele.

“I stopped writing this 20 times because I thought it was impossible.”

Peele dedicates his award to “all the people who raised my voice and let me make this movie”.

He thanks everyone who went to see it “and for shouting out at the screen”.

    This is a significant win.

It's extremely rare for the best picture winner not to win either best original or best adapted screenplay.

Given that Call Me By Your Name is unlikely to win best picture - does this win mean that Get Out is in with a shot of taking the night's big prize?

The other nominees in this cateogry were:

    • The Big Sick - written by Emily V Gordon & Kumail Nanjiani
    • Lady Bird - written by Greta Gerwig
    • The Shape of Water - screenplay by Guillermo del Toro & Vanessa Taylor; story by Guillermo del Toro
    • Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri - written by Martin McDonagh

  8. WINNER: Best adapted screenplaypublished at 03:33 Greenwich Mean Time 5 March 2018

Call Me By Your Name - screenplay by James Ivory

“My rule number one for a screenwriter who adapts a novel is to thank the author of the novel," says James Ivory as he thanks Andre Aciman, who wrote the book the film is based on.

Ivory describes Call Me By Your Name as "a story familiar to most of us, whether straight, gay or somewhere in between. We've all gone through our first love, and come out the other side mostly intact."

He also thanks "the film's wonderful emotion-filled actors" as the camera cuts to Timothee Chalamet - who is also up for best actor later tonight for his performance in the same film.

His appearance in the interview room was met with a huge round of applause and he was inundated with questions.

    Quote Message

I feel better than winning the championship. I dreamed of winning the championship and worked really hard to make that dream come true. To have something like this seemingly come out of leftfield... this is crazy man, it's crazy.

He said he felt a sense of validation by winning the Oscar - and that he was pleased he didn't have to sit in an ice bath after this victory.
