Margot Robbie, one of the queens of Barbie is here - she of course stars in the film, which is is up for eight Oscars tonight.

She has famously worn Barbie outfits at many of the industry events she's attended, and the famous doll is known to wear black dresses as well, so this could well be another. It's stylish and subtle.

Robbie has a producer's credit, and has said this more than makes up for missing out on a best actress nomination.

"There's no way to feel sad when you know you're this blessed," she said recently.

Greta Gerwig looks stunning in a sequined dress as she's nominated tonight for best adapted screenplay for Barbie which has received a total of eight nominations.

Gerwig made headlines in January when the nominations were announced after she was snubbed for the best director category.

What more has a girl got to do to be nominated for an Oscar than to create the highest grossing film ever from a female director?

His film, which he also directed and co-wrote, is up for seven Oscars tonight, although it's not a dead certainty to win any of the categories.

Anything could happen though. We have our popcorn ready.

He's quite understated tonight in a black suit and white shirt, but the eagle-eyed will spot turquoise buttons on his jacket. An unusual touch, which makes him stand out a bit - but not too much.

Away from the red carpet arrivals, the scene is set for a glitzy watch party at the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel's Blossom Room - the venue for the first Oscars in 1929, right across the road from the Dolby Theatre.

There's a palpable buzz for Oppenheimer, although when asked, almost everyone agrees, the film was too long. Let's hope they don't say the same about tonight's ceremony.

If you’ve been living under a Rock (sorry), or just haven’t watched wrestling since the 1990s, in which case you’d be forgiven, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson has returned to the squared circle where he’ll be fighting at WrestleMania in a month’s time.

In a nod to his riotous, obnoxious character from the Attitude Era, all open Versace silk shirts and aviators inside, which he has re-enlisted for this go around in WWE, Johnson dons a silk slate three-piece suit and a burgundy silk scarf tucked inside. Pecks exposed, of course.

Bringing the Kenergy to the red carpet is Ryan Gosling, who will be hoping he can pick up the award for best supporting actor for his role as Ken in Barbie.

In a switch up from the pastel palette suits he's been sporting at previous award ceremonies this year, Gosling has opted for a classic black outfit with a sparkly silver trim around the edge.

It might look great, but let's hope it's also comfortable as he'll be gracing us with a performance of I'm Just Ken later on in the night which will no doubt be a highlight for many of us.

I have to give props to Krasinski for delving outside of the typical black tux for men (and black as a wider trend for the night - stay tuned for that) while complimenting the incomparable Emily Blunt, who received her first nomination for best supporting actress for Oppenheimer.

She’s in a structured Schiaparelli gown with raised straps and exposed Jockey brief detailing.

Mstyslav Chernov recently won best documentary at the Baftas for his film

20 Days in Mariupol, by Pulitzer Prize-winning Ukrainian journalist Mstyslav Chernov, is seen as the favourite to win best documentary tonight.

In the film, he spends 20 days in Mariupol, Ukraine, in March 2022, while it is besieged after Russia’s invasion. Chernov’s footage was compiled by himself, along with US TV programme Frontline and the Associated Press (AP).

As Emma Jones write in BBC Culture, it’s the second year running that the Oscars race for this award feels “linked to political events far away from Hollywood”.

Last year's winner, Navalny, saw filmmaker Daniel Roher gain unprecedented access to the Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny, who died in a Russian prison in February. His funeral was held last week.

But a winning documentary made on the front-line of a war would be a first in modern Oscars history, Jones adds.
