    Baroness Floella Benjamin has been awarded the Bafta Fellowship - the most prestigious award handed out tonight.

    Benjamin has has a long and trailblazing career, and is receiving this honour for her immense contribution to television.

    BBC presenter Clive Myrie presents the award. "Her infectious smile, her boundless energy and her genuine affection for young viewers made an integral part of their formative years," he says, referring to her roles as a children's TV host.

    Heading to the stage Benjamin receives a standing ovation.

    "I feel blessed as I stand on the summit of life's mountain looking back at my adventurous journey," she says.

    She acknowledges the challenges she faced, like being told to "shut up", but says her mission was to get broadcasters to "have diversity and inclusion in their DNA."

    "I am so proud of my work for children," she adds. "Childhood lasts a lifetime."

    She tears up at the end of her speech, thanking her children for "sharing their mummy with the nation's children."

    Such Brave Girls takes home the Bafta for scripted comedy.

    The sitcom follows a dysfunctional family of two sisters and their single mother.

    "We cannot believe this, this is mad," actress Kat Sadler says.

    She says she started writing the show when she was "under sectioning in the hospital."

    This is a big one, and it is won by none other than Top Boy.

    The gritty London-based drama follows the world of drugs and gangs.

    The story came to an end with its final season last year, which drew huge audiences.

    Jasmine Jobson who won an award earlier for her supporting actress role as Jaq is on stage now.

    "We won two," she screams.

    Mr Bates vs the Post Office, the hit ITV drama series, is given a shout out.

    The series captured the Post Office's Horizon scandal, which left sub-postmasters in debt, wrongly prosecuted and even sent to jail.

    It is not eligible for this year's awards as it was released too late, but it's recognised now for its "real and lasting change".

    Lorraine Kelly has been presented with a special award marking her long career in the industry.

    It is presented by legendary actor, and fellow Scot, Brian Cox. He praised her indomitable spirit.

    After a reel of her previous work, and kind words from actors including Hugh Jackman, Lorraine steps on stage.

    "I've really got to thank everybody that I've worked with," Lorraine says, adding that she is proud of her work on daytime TV.

    "I never, ever take it for granted that so many people trust me with their stories and I'm so honoured that our viewers think of me as their pal.

    "I suppose if I've learned anything at all... it's what's the point of having all that experience if you don't actually share it... and help other people."

    She says she hopes people continue to make it possible for working class people like herself to get similar opportunities.

    Sir Michael Parkinson, Ray Stevenson, Benjamin Zephaniah and Annie Nightingale are just a few of those being remembered in an emotional tribute now.

    Videos are shown on a screen with clips from shows and films, recognising talent that is no longer with us from actors to producers and TV presenters.

    It ended on Matthew Perry, the Friends star who died in October 2023.

  9. Single documentary winner is...published at 19:10 British Summer Time 12 May

    Ellie Simmonds takes home the Bafta for her documentary Finding My Secret Family.

    The Paralympian delves into her disability and her adoption on the show, tracking down her birth mother.

    On stage now she says: "I'm so shocked," and adds that she hasn't planned a speech.

    She thanks her parents as well as her birth mum for meeting her.

    It was a moment that had us all on the edge of our seats.

    Coming to a gripping finale, cop drama Happy Valley culminated in a tense scene where characters Catherine Cawood (Sarah Lancashire) and Tommy Lee Royce (James Norton) came face to face in the detective's kitchen.

    The emotional and tense moment has been voted for by the public - the only TV Bafta to be chosen this way.

    Rhys Connah, who plays Ryan Cawood, is on stage now, but nobody joins him. He jokes, saying nobody said he would be up there alone.

    But he gives the usual thanks, to lots of applause.
