We’ve been wasting absolutely no time here in Luton today – with Joel Corry blasting on to the main stage a little while ago at 13:00 BST.

One of the hardest working men in dance music, he once claimed to have “played every postcode in the UK”.

And, sure enough, he’s got three massive festival sets this weekend, with his visit to Luton sandwiched between a gig in Port Talbot last night and the Bournemouth 7s festival tomorrow.

Joel only released his debut album Another Friday last year, but it already feels like a greatest hits collection, featuring five multi-platinum singles – including Head & Heart, Bed and Sorry.

The album also features collaborations with half of today’s line-up: Mabel, Caity Baser, Charli XCX and Raye all make guest appearances.

Will any of them be up early enough to join him on the main stage?

Record-breaking Brit Award winner Raye is Saturday night's headliner on the Main Stage - we're expecting her at about 21:00 BST.

Before that, many more big names are performing today across the four stages - from Aitch, to Rag'n'Bone Man, The Last Dinner Party and Shygirl.

We're pausing our live coverage of Radio 1's Big Weekend 2024 now, after tonight's headliners Chase & Status brought Friday's night's party to a spectacular conclusion.

That's far from it, though. We'll be back from tomorrow afternoon as the music starts again and continues well into Saturday evening.

Record-breaking Brit Award winner Raye will top tomorrow's bill in Luton.

Aitch, Griff and Mabel are some of the other acts appearing on the main stage tomorrow.

Meanwhile, on the new music stage, The Last Dinner Party, Cat Burns and Caity Baser are set to perform.

And there will be lots more across the other stages.

See you tomorrow - same time, same place.

Music as pure energypublished at 22:41 British Summer Time 24 May

    Mark Savage
    BBC Music correspondent

There’s nothing subtle about Chase and Status. This is music as pure energy.

The rhythm taps into something primal, bypassing the brain and going straight to the feet. And if you surrender to the tension-and-release of the music, it’s transformative.

In the field, there are ravers of all throwing shapes - some stiffer than others, perhaps, but all intertwined with the music in some magical, elemental way.

Some are less impressed. A couple of kids are tugging impatiently at their parents’ elbows, desperate to go home.

And for a few, a long day of drink-dancing has proved too much. Too many Chasers and their Status = incapacitated.

Hands in the air, people are sat on other's shoulders nodding along.

Electric notes echo out into the night's sky as Andy Gangadeen hits the drums with delicate control to the cheers of the crowd.

White strobe lights flash as he hits each beat and builds up to a drop.

The crowd jumps up and down and cheers before a transition to the song Disconnect.

Chase & Status make moving from each song to the next look and sound seamless.

And even more jumping a few hours after Becky Hill kicked things off earlier today.

It’s a squeeze where I’m standing, but people are still finding the room to have a boogie.

The field was flooded with pink lights and love exuberating from the crowd for Clementine Douglas and Chase & Status's performance of the upbeat pop song Mixed Emotions.

But now it's a complete gear change with slime-green lighting and orange flames.

The deep beats of Don't Be Scared are building up across the field.

"Jump," Chase & Status say. The crowd does as they command, with smiles on their faces and hands in the air.
