  10. SDLP MP endorses NI peace process and opposes electionpublished at 14:29 British Summer Time 19 April 2017

    House of Commons
    Parliament

SDLP MP Mark Durkan says he will oppose the motion for an early election.

He suggests that Theresa May is saying she does not have confidence in Parliament and is claiming opposition parties have "all sorts of exaggerated powers" to block Brexit.

He adds that he is a supporter of the Good Friday Agreement, which was endorsed by referendum votes in both Northern Ireland and Republic of Ireland.

"I am not a saboteur when it comes to anything that has been endorsed by a referendum," he tells the House.

  11. Pro-Leave Labour MP says he will vote against an early electionpublished at 14:29 British Summer Time 19 April 2017

    House of Commons
    Parliament

Labour MP Roger Godsiff says he will not be voting with his party and will oppose the motion for an early election.

"I think it's totally unnecessary," he says, adding that he voted to leave the EU and has "a grudging respect" for the prime minister.

However, he claims Theresa May's argument that she needs "a mandate to negotiate Brexit is just ridiculous".

She received that mandate in last year's referendum, he argues.
