  4. 'A shock for people locally'published at 15:46 Greenwich Mean Time 2 February 2020

BBC journalist Stefan Powell is stuck in his flat in Streatham, he tells BBC News:

"It is just at the bottom of my road where the incident happened.

"There were armed police everywhere, they have been telling residents to stay inside.

"Since then, as well as the helicopter, you can see plain-clothed police officers patrolling the streets.

"But I can see some pedestrians are now being let through, so they may be starting to slacken those restrictions.

"It has been a bit of a shock for people locally."

  5. 'Immediate heat has gone out of the situation'published at 15:44 Greenwich Mean Time 2 February 2020

There were people being told to stay in shops and there was a degree of lock-down.

But we have seen videos and pictures of paramedics coming into the area – presumably to treat those who have been injured.

That is something we wouldn’t see if police thought there was an active threat.

The suggestions – not confirmed by the police but from what we are seeing – is that it looks like they have tackled the threat and are able to treat those affected.

It looks like the immediate heat has gone out of the situation.
