We're going to be closing out live coverage of the Prince of Wales return to official royal duties for the first time since his wife, the Princess of Wales, announced her cancer diagnosis last month.

During the visit, the Prince attended a food distribution charity in Surrey and then made his way to a youth centre in west London.

He told volunteers that he's taking care of his wife, Catherine, after receiving get well soon cards for both her and his father, King Charles. Thank you for joining us.

Some more details from those get well soon cards that Prince William received earlier today from volunteers.

As we just mentioned, Rachel Candappa was one of the few who had a chance to exchange these well-wishes with the Prince earlier today in Surrey.

In her card, she wrote: "The nation's hearts were broken when you very courageously went on the global stage on your own to talk about your personal health issues."

Earlier, charity worker Rachel Candappa gave the Prince of Wales two get well soon cards for the King and Princess Catherine.

She told the media she wanted to show Prince William her appreciation for the royals through the gesture.

Inside, the message continues: "You must have had lot of steel in you to hold it together.

Your royal highness you are going to beat this with the support of your [dutiful] and loving husband, caring parents and very close siblings."

Earlier, we reported that Prince William was handed two get well soon cards during a charity visit in Surrey.

When handing her card to the Prince, Rachel Candappa, a charity volunteer, took the opportunity to inquire about the Princess of Wales.

After doing so, she reportedly told Prince William that he should "take care of her".

"I will", was his response, according to Candappa, who shared details of the exchange with media afterwards.

Candappa took her chance to hand her card to him in-person after writing it out last night, which she says she stayed up until 01:00 working on so as to get the wording right.

"He was kind of taken aback but he probably didn't expect that from a 71-year-old," she says.

"He's human after all. He's royal, but above all he's a husband, a father to the children, so he needs to look after her," she says, adding that he went on to thank her "very much" for her kindness.

Shortly after Prince William left the Hanworth Youth Centre, we had a chance to catch-up with the co-founder of Surplus to Supper, Claire Hopkins.

She says it was "really exciting" to speak to Prince William about her charity earlier today, and adds that she feels "so proud and privileged" to have been chosen by the Palace for a royal visit.

"I think he has a real heart for sustainability, for the Earth," she says of William, and adds that she believes he was "very passionate" throughout his visit.

After dropping off the boxes he hand-packed this morning to the Hanworth Youth Centre, Prince William has now said goodbye.

The visit was short, but it seems to have made an impact on the people, who stood around looking pleased after his departure.

Once inside the Hanworth Youth Centre, Prince William spent some time talking to young people who use the centre.

They sat together on sofas as he asked them more about what the centre offers them.

Arriving at his next stop, the Hanworth Youth Centre in west London, Prince William shook the hand of a worker before heading inside.

The centre provides a variety of services to young people in the Feltham area, such as a youth club and hosting regular sports sessions like boxing.

They also receive regular food deliveries from Surplus to Supper, where Prince William has just come from paying a visit.

As Prince William is en-route to his next public engagement, here's a look back at the moment when he was stuck in to making a bolognese dish in the charity kitchen - with help from the chefs to guide him through the recipe.

He seemed to get a hang of it quite quickly, and was on to packing crates to be delivered to locals shortly after finishing up in the kitchen.

No word from the prince about his wife’s condition in this, his first engagement since Kate made her video statement.

Her condition was on the minds of many who waited outside for his arrival and departure - and inside, as we just reported, he was handed "get well" cards for his wife and for the King.

But he left without drawing back the curtain on how his wife’s treatment is going.

As he continued his first royal visit since his wife announced she had cancer, Prince William was handed two get well soon cards.

One was for Princess Catherine, and the other for King Charles - who also revealed he was undergoing treatment for cancer in February.

He told the volunteer "that's kind" as she handed him the cards.

After learning more about the meal prep process, Prince William has moved onto sorting out items for distribution.

He's helping packing up crates that will help people in the local area.

Now Prince William is trying his hand at meal prepping in the charity kitchen.

In-between dicing up celery and stirring bubbling meals, which will be distributed to the local area, he's learning more about the charity and what they do.

The prince might need to sharpen up his knife skills though if he wants a full-time role - he's moving quite slowly.

Prince William's first stop of the day is at Surplus to Supper in Surrey, where he's just arrived.

He shook hands with members of the charity, looking relaxed. The charity aims to take food waste and use it to end food poverty locally.

Although Prince William hasn't had official royal duties since the Princess of Wales announced her diagnosis, he has been seen in public.

Last week, he attended an Aston Villa game with son - and fellow supporter - Prince George.

The pair were seen clapping and cheering on the team, as they won 2-1 against Lille in the first leg of the Europa Conference League quarter-final.
