    Paddy Chatterton

He normally takes the 08:07, but today took the 07:34.

Of course, once he reaches Paddington the tube strike will affect his journey to Kennington. It usually takes an hour, but going by bus today could take two hours, he says.

  18. Rush hour Kemble-stylepublished at 08:08 British Summer Time 9 July 2015

    David Bailey
    BBC News

BBC Radio Gloucestershire's David Bailey is touring the county's railway stations, reporting on the impact of the First Great Western rail strike.

    rail

Here at Kemble, the station is deserted. I only saw one man, wandering up and down the platform scratching his head, wondering where the normal 07:19 service has got to.

The tiny Cotswold station, built of honey-coloured stone, is eerily quiet. A lone pigeon flaps along the platform edge before coming to rest on the roof of the quaint ticket office.

Could that be the only journey I'll witness this morning?

  19. Rail strike confusionpublished at 08:03 British Summer Time 9 July 2015

    Neil Gallacher
    Correspondent, BBC South West

Many passengers should see at least some kind of skeleton service at peak times if they go to the station, but they may well find little or no reliable information in advance.

For example, yesterday passengers on the Gunnislake branch in Cornwall were told by train staff that there would be two trains only at the morning and evening peak while the First Great Western website, external reports the entire Gunnislake service is actually cancelled.

But then again the company's online journey planner tool says two trains will run at either end of the day.

A spokesman told me this latter information is out of date but it's not been possible to update it.
