    North Yorkshire police are asking people to keep an eye out for this missing York man.

    Antony Carson, 50 was reported missing from Acomb in York this morning.

    There are flood warnings for Naburn Lock which is just outside of the city and riverside properties in York.

    Flood warnings means that flooding is expected and people should move their belongings to a safe place.

    The Environment Agency says it's due to a lot of rain from upper catchment areas.

    The River Ouse is at 3.1 metres and is expected to fall overnight to 3 metres.

    The Agency says that no significant rainfall is forecast in the upper catchments over the next couple of days, however river levels upstream of York remain high as peak levels move through the systems.

    River levels are likely to remain high for the next few days.

    A man has been treated for facial injuries after being stabbed in Leeds last night.

    Detectives say they are are investigating reports of a stabbing which happened at about 19:00 on Cowper Road in Harehills.

    A 30-year-old man was taken to hospital where he had surgery for serious facial injuries, which are not thought to be life threatening.

    Did you know that an industrial estate in Rotherham is home to one of the biggest Parkour venues , externalin the Country?

    Me neither.

    What is parkour? I hear you say, well according to the dictionary it's the activity or sport of moving rapidly through an area, typically in an urban environment, negotiating obstacles by running, jumping, and climbing.

  6. Uber lodges appeal over York licence banpublished at 13:07 Greenwich Mean Time 5 January 2018

    Taxi-hailing app Uber has appealed against a decision by York councillors not to renew its operating licence.

    The firm's bid was rejected in December over complaints the city was being "overwhelmed" by drivers using the app.

    Concerns about a data breach also contributed to the decision, the City of York Council previously said.

    Uber, which filed its appeal on Thursday, has also asked to meet councillors "to address their concerns", said a company spokesman.

  7. Landslip closes part of Yorkshire Coast's Cinder Trackpublished at 12:54 Greenwich Mean Time 5 January 2018

    Motorists can't use a section of the old Scarborough to Whitby railway line, just north of Ravenscar, due to a small landslip.

    It's known as the Cinder Track and is mainly used by walkers, horse riders and cyclists.

    Cars and other vehicles are allowed on part of it for people to access to their houses and land.

    Scarborough Borough Council says it has been monitoring the landslip but it appears to be still moving slowly.

    They've put up concrete blocks south of Stoupe Brow Road Bridge and just north of the access road to Stoupe Brow Farm.

    They say there's no risk to properties in the area and this is a temporary measure.

    In York, the register office is temporarily closing, external.

    The office on Bootham in the city centre is relocating until early March from this weekend so they can give it a lick of paint.

    It'll be located at West Offices on Station Rise.

    So as you nervously drop to one knee and fumble for that ring, just remember there's a ten minute walk from the old Register Office to the temporary one.

    Plans have been submitted in Bradford for a new wedding hall which would accommodate 800 guests.

    The application is looking for permission to build it on a patch of empty land off Dick Lane.

    The documents show the land was previously used by manufacturing businesses. A decision's expected in April.

    If you were planning on going to see an exhibition of human skeletons in Leeds, this weekend is your last chance to see it - 40,000 people have been so far.

    The Skeletons: Our Buried Bones exhibition closes this Sunday at Leeds City Museum’s special exhibitions gallery.

    The exhibition is free and features 12 skeletons from Yorkshire and London and tells us about the health and heritage of people living in different eras.

    It also includes the remains of an Iron Age man and woman found buried together during archaeological excavations beside the A1 near Bramham.

    A cardiac surgeon from Leeds says more needs to be done to raise awareness of depression and anxiety in patients who've had heart surgery.

    An estimated one fifth of patients suffer emotional problems after an operation - but most of the emphasis is on the physical aspects of recovery.

    The British Heart Foundation (BHF) says that mental health symptoms can occur straight away or several months after a procedure., external

    The BHF also point to research carried out in 2012 which found that more than half of former intensive-care patients suffered from post traumatic stress disorder, depression or anxiety symptoms.

    More than 14,000 properties in North Yorkshire could soon receive better broadband after the county council agreed a deal with BT.

    It's the latest phase of a project to improve connectivity across the county. Councillors say the £20m contract will benefit many small rural firms.

    The county council says they don't yet know which areas will benefit and that work is due to start soon on the project.

    A £22m investment in housing in Selby has been approved.

    The plan is to bring around 200 affordable homes to the market by 2020.

    Councillor Richard Musgrave has responsibility for housing and says it's an ambitious target.

    A 12-year-old girl is in a critical condition in hospital after being hit by a car in Leeds yesterday evening.

    The accident happened on Wetherby Road in Seacroft at about 18:30.

    A Vauxhall Corsa was travelling from the A58 roundabout junction onto the city's Outer Ring Road when it hit the girl.

    Ambulance crews took her to Leeds General Infirmary where she is still in a critical condition.

    Police have asked for any witnesses to the crash to come forward, by calling 101.

    A 15 year old boy who was reported missing from his home yesterday has been found.

    Kyle Lewis Dunn from Scotton near Knaresborough was found in the early hours of this morning.

    North Yorkshire Police have thanked the public for their help.
