Officers were called to Pasture Lane in Clayton on Tuesday afternoon.

The victim was put in a white vehicle which was then driven off.

He was later found with injuries which are not thought to be serious.

A cordon and road closures were put in place while officers examined the scene.

Officers say they want to hear from anyone who may have seen any suspicious activity in the area involving a white Citroen DS4.

Members of the family of a 72-year-old man missing from York for more than a week have issued an emotional appeal to help find him.

Joseph Cafferkey, from Acomb, hasn't been seen since lunchtime on 30 September.

Police say it's known he visited his local Post Office at about 09:25 that day, and a worried neighbour reported him missing on Friday 2 October after he failed to attend a doctor’s appointment.

In a statement, Deborah Smith, Sandy Tiffney, Chrissy Green and Steve Chapman said: “We’re so worried about what's happened to him. It is completely out of character for Joe to go off without telling anyone.

“Joe's been a large part of our family for over 35 years, for over 30 years as our mum’s partner. He has many friends, and loved the outdoor life, volunteering at St Nick’s nature reserve.

"We can’t think of any reason why he'd disappear like this and believe he had an injury which may have affected his judgement.

“We urge anyone who sees him, or knows of his whereabouts, to call the police straight away."

It's thought Mr Cafferkey, who speaks with a strong Irish accent and is described as white, of medium build, with receding grey hair, doesn't have access to a mobile phone or money.

Anyone who sees him is being asked to contact police immediately.

Civic leaders and the hospitality sector in Leeds are calling on the government to urgently review coronavirus restrictions - in particular those requiring venues to close at 22:00.

In a joint letter issued to the Prime Minister today, Council leader Judith Blake and chief executive Tom Riordan have united with bars and restaurants to highlight the impact the curfew is having on the city’s economy.

The letter opens with: "We write to you today as a collective of leaders from the public sector and hospitality businesses representing the city of Leeds.

"Together, we implore you and your colleagues to urgently review the current Covid-19 restrictions in place, which are wreaking a devastating and, we fear, irrevocable toll on our city and its economy."

Councillor Blake says the "tenacity and innovation" local businesses in the hospitality sector have shown during the pandemic has been "inspiring".

She says: "The current curfew is making this fight for survival an even harder one to win and in some cases it is sadly proving impossible, with many businesses and jobs across our city now in serious jeopardy.

"We hope the government acknowledges its importance to the future of our economy and public finances by changing these restrictions.”

A newborn dik-dik, a kind of tiny antelope, has been welcomed by the public at a wildlife park in Yorkshire.

Mr Pistachio was born at Yorkshire Wildlife Park on 26 August after a family of dik-diks was brought to the Doncaster attraction earlier this year.

His mum, Davos and Crissy, and his seven-month-old brother Mr Cashew, arrived at the park as part of a global conservation project.

Normally growing just 16ins (41cm) tall, they usually live in eastern Africa.

Hoofstock team leader Ayshea Seaton said: “He is so cute that people, and animals, stop in their tracks to look at him.

A man's been treated for head injuries after being attacked by a group of four men in Sheffield, police say.

The 26-year-old was on Eldon Street, near Devonshire Green, at about 22:30 on Saturday, 3 October when he was attacked by a group of men, according to South Yorkshire Police.

Det Con Nicola Cooper said: "This was a nasty attack on a young man in a popular part of the city centre.

"From CCTV inquiries we have identified the attackers to be a group of four men who are unknown to the victim.

"We know there were other people in the area at the time, so if you can help our investigation with any information, I’d urge you to do so," she added.

A West Yorkshire biscuit factory has been sold to the giant Italian Nutella and Kinder chocolate firm Ferrero as part of a £246m deal.

The Italian confectioner has agreed to buy Fox's Biscuits from food manufacturer 2 Sisters Food Group, including the biscuit factory in Batley.

Fox's Biscuits is one of Britain's best-known biscuit brands, making household names such as Rocky Bars, Party Rings, Crunch Creams and Crinkle Creams.

The Fox's Biscuits factory in Batley was saved from closure in July 2011.

The deal - which is set to complete within months - marks Ferrero's second biscuit firm takeover in the past year, coming after it bought Royal Dansk firm Kelsen last September.

Craven is expected to be named an "area of concern" as North Yorkshire faces a "tipping point" in its battle against coronavirus, council bosses say.

Richard Flinton, chief executive of North Yorkshire County Council, said the infection rate across the county is continuing to rise, with latest figures showing it to be at 91.1 per 100,000 - just short of the England seven-day average of 93.2.

However, Mr Flinton said the rate in Craven, particularly around the Skipton and south Craven border, is 136.5.

He said: "We suspect the continued and worrying rise in cases in this area will result in the district going onto the government’s watch list as an area of concern."

Public health officials were dealing with 125 outbreaks across the county in places including schools, care homes and workplaces, he added.

Calling on residents to "redouble their efforts" in the fight against the virus, Mr Flinton said the next few days would be "critical".

"We stand at a tipping point and only by playing our part as individuals in a concerted effort will we be able to step back from this precipice," he said.

Scarborough and Selby were named as areas of concern last month, though Mr Flinton said the two areas were "no longer seeing the highest level of spread".

A man's died after being involved in a two-vehicle collision in North Yorkshire, it's been confirmed.

The crash, involving a white Audi A4 and a black Peugeot, happened on the A19 at South Kilvington at about 05:30 this morning, say police.

The man who was driving the Peugeot was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Audi was uninjured.

A spokesperson for North Yorkshire Police said: "The road is likely to be closed until around midday.

"Anyone who was in the area at the time and has any information about the collision, including any dash-cam footage, should contact us," he added.

Motorists are being advised to use alternative routes for the time being.

Police are urging anyone who can help officers locate a man who's been missing from Bradford for 18 weeks to get in touch.

Ismail Ali (pictured), 46, was last seen in Gulams food shop in Cumberland Road on 29 May.

He's described as a slim Asian male, with short black hair and a full beard. He was last seen wearing a red hooded top, black trousers and dark footwear.

It's thought Mr Ali has links to the Dewsbury and Batley areas, as well as links to Blackburn.

Officers say they are "very concerned" for his welfare and are urging people to get in touch if they have any further information.

The incident took place at about 11:40 Tuesday 22 September when a man boarded a train, took property from the luggage rack and then left the train.

The luggage contained items of "significant value," including jewellery, laptops and handbags, according to BTP.

It's believed the theft is is linked to a number of similar offences in the Yorkshire area.

Officers say they would like to speak to the man in the images in connection with the incident.

Anyone who recognises him is being urged to contact police.
