    A 999 call handler has shared a video of the moment she stepped outside during last night's 'Clap for Carers' tribute.

    People across the UK were asked to open their doors and windows and show their appreciation for NHS and care workers.

    Lucy Savage, from Acomb, in York, said the event was "amazing".

    A couple from Warwick have described their fear as they move house during the outbreak.

    David and Ruth Arnold are loading and driving a removal van themselves to avoid coming into contact with anyone else.

    They said they had already signed a new lease agreement and could not afford to pay rent on two properties.

    The government is urging buyers and renters not to move to try to limit the spread of the virus.

    Con artists have been trying to scam parents whose children are eligible for free school meals during the coronavirus pandemic.

    Parents in Kent have received texts or emails asking them to disclose their bank details, with promises that they will be sent money directly.

    Folkestone and Hythe District Council has issued a public warning urging people to be on their guard.

    Boris Johnson's team say that he is absolutely well enough to carry on in the job despite testing positive for coronavirus.

    He is self-isolating in the 10 Downing Street flat, which links through to part of Number 11 too, and is carrying out his usual duties, including chairing this morning's coronavirus meeting, by video link.

    But with the prime minister now a victim of the virus itself, this is anything but business as usual.

    The number of coronavirus deaths in the UK has risen from 578 to 759, according to the Department of Health. This is the biggest rise in deaths that the country has seen so far.

    14,579 have now tested positive for the disease, including UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson.

    At least 300,000 people are thought to have taken part in a virtual pub quiz broadcast online by a former landlord.

    Jay Flynn, from Darwen, Lancashire, ran the quiz through Facebook and YouTube last night, hoping to “lift a few local people’s spirits”.

    He admitted things “went a little crazy” with people from as far afield as New Zealand and the US taking part.

    “I thought I would get 30-40 people from Darwen playing,” he said.

    He said the total number of views so far – either live or on replay – was about 340,000.

    English football is heading towards its third weekend without games and, with no end in sight to the lockdown, the first cracks are beginning to appear in what had previously been a united front.

    In the professional game, which covers the Premier League and Football League, there is now an acceptance there will be no immediate resumption.

    Premier League clubs are due to meet again on 3 April, when it is almost certain the current postponement of all games until 30 April will be extended further.

    That will take it past the official end of the EFL league season and towards the last round of Premier League fixtures, which was supposed to be on 17 May.

    Lower down, the FA's decision to declare the season below National League level null and void, and scrap promotion and relegation at all levels of non-league football from step three down, has caused fury.

    Two-time Paralympian Kim Daybell has swapped his table tennis bat for working on the frontline of the NHS during the coronavirus crisis.

    The 27-year-old completed his medical degree in 2018 and since then has been combining sport with working part-time as a junior doctor.

    But instead of training for Tokyo, he is now working full-time at the Whittington Hospital in north London.

    “I’m lucky to have the skill-set to help fight what is going on and that is a positive that I’m taking."

    Firefighters have agreed to drive ambulances, deliver supplies and help to move bodies if needed to aid the UK response to the pandemic.

    There are about 48,000 firefighters and control staff in the UK - but hundreds are already self-isolating because of coronavirus, the Fire Brigades Union (FBU) said.

    The union is calling for tests to be quickly made available to its members to retain safe staffing levels.

    Matt Wrack, head of the FBU, said the virus would be a "huge challenge", but firefighters were "keen to do whatever they can".

    The Chancellor has unveiled a support package for self-employed workers affected by measures to limit the coronavirus outbreak.

    They will be able to claim up to £2,500 per month but only if they have been operating for at least a year and have a trading profit of less than £50,000.

    Those who do qualify won't see the money until June.

    About five million people around the UK are self-employed.

    These places have some of the highest rates of self-employment among the population aged 16-64 and are where the measures are likely to be needed most.

    Along with lots of other children around England today, my five-year-old daughter's been watching the virtual tour of Chester Zoo, external.

    So far she's seen the red pandas being fed, a baby elephant, and apparently she found out that giraffes have poos the size of Maltesers.

    Other animals coming up later include the sun bears, tigers and penguins.
