He received 41,664 votes to Liam Byrne's 9,515 for Labour.
Results starting to point towards Conservative mayor win
Kathryn Stanczyszyn
Political Reporter, BBC Radio WM
As more results come in, it's starting to look like the Conservatives will win the West Midlands Mayor election.
As we said earlier, Labour led in the Birmingham count and they're ahead in Sandwell too - but only by around 5,000 votes.
And that should be a strong Labour area.
Andy Street has won the Wolverhampton and Walsall races by 2,795 votes and 15,123 votes respectively.
So it's going to be close, but this could still be decided on the first ballot preferences.
Mayoral election: Labour lead the way in Birmingham
We've got the results in for the Birmingham count in the West Midlands Mayor elections - and Labour are in the lead.
Their candidate, Liam Byrne, leads the Conservative Andy Street by 102,276 votes to 84,817.
But that's just one of the counts going on, and results elsewhere could turn that on its head.
Turnout up for mayoral election
We've had the turnout figures in for the West Midlands Mayor and West Midands Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC) elections - and they're both up on last time.
The mayoral turnout was 31.2%, up from 26.7% in 2017.
And the PCC turnout was very similar - 31.02%, up from 27.7% in 2016.
Tories take control of city council
The Conservative party has taken the majority on Worcester City Council.
The party went into this election with a total of 15 seats, which it increased by three, giving it control of the council by one seat.
Meanwhile the Labour party added to its disappointment from across the West Midlands by losing four seats.
A close race in the West Midlands
Elizabeth Glinka
Political Editor, BBC Midlands
It's a very tight race for the West Midlands mayor, but there's still a possibility that Conservative incumbent Andy Street will win on first preferences.
He started the race by seeking to put distance between himself and central government, but as the Conservative's popularity became clear, he began to emphasise his access to No 10.
For Labour, not getting into a second round would be a huge blow. Liam Byrne, a former cabinet minister, was thought to be a strong candidate. But Labour's support is centred in metropolitan Birmingham, which unlike the Black Country and the rest of the region, didn't have council elections alongside the mayoral vote this week, which isn't going to boost their turnout.
We should get a result this afternoon.
Andy Street arrives at mayoral election count
The incumbent West Midlands Mayor has arrived at Birmingham's count.
The election looks set to be decided on voters' first preferences, with the potential for a result at 14:00.
The region's mayor represents around 2.8 million people across seven local council areas - constituent members of the West Midlands Combined Authority - Birmingham, Coventry, Dudley, Sandwell, Solihull, Walsall and Wolverhampton.
Shropshire elects 20-year-old councillor
There have been a few young councillors elected and this could be the youngest so far.
Alex Wagner is just 20 years old and he's won the Bowbrook seat for the Lib Dems in the Shropshire Council elections.
The seat was previously held by the Conservatives.
Early result possible in mayoral election
This is the scene at Birmingham's Utilita Arena, where votes are being counted in the West Midlands mayoral election.
And it looks like we could have an early result there, if one of the candidates can secure enough votes on the first ballot.
Tamworth results are in
The Conservatives have strengthened their majority on Tamworth Borough Council, taking four more seats.
Two of them were taken from Labour and two previously belonged to UKIP.
There had been 10 seats up for grabs there, one third of the total number.
Two Conservative gains in Worcester
BBC Radio Hereford and Worcester
We've got around half the results in from the Worcester City Council elections and so far the Conservatives have taken two seats from Labour.
Labour have also lost the city centre seat of Arboretum to the Greens, with the former parliamentary candidate Joy Squires losing out that one.
There have also been wins for the former UKIP MEP Jim Carver, who was elected in the Nunnery ward, and for the Lib Dems, who took Claines from the Conservatives.
Half-way mark reached in Staffordshire council count
Sophie Calvert
Political Reporter, BBC Radio Stoke
Half of the results for Staffordshire County Council are now in and the Conservatives have made two gains from Labour so far.
One in Keele, Knutton and Silverdale, home of Walleys Quarry landfill.
The other was in Burntwood North, where the former Labour Group leader Sue Woodward has lost her seat, beaten by the Conservative candidate, Tom Rudd.
In the Uttoxeter Town ward, David Brookes who was kicked out of the Conservative Party in February and was standing as an Independent, has lost his seat to the Conservative Philip Hudson.
Labour went into this vote with 10 councillors, and have lost two so far.
First result in from Rugby
The first results are coming in from Rugby Borough Council.
In Coton and Boughton Ward its a Conservative hold, while in Benn Ward there's a Labour hold.
The council is currently Tory led and there are 15 seats up for election.
We're expecting the full results for the council later today.
Covid restrictions mean raincoats for reporters
The coronavirus social distancing restrictions at counts have mean the results coming through a bit slower than usual.
They've also meant a few changes for reporters and Joanne Gallacher from BBC Shropshire has been told all interviews have to be done outside the Shropshire Council election count, which is being held at Shrewsbury Sports Village.
Good job she brought her Keeping Faith rain jacket.
Conservatives take Cannock Chase majority
The Conservative party has won in 12 of the 13 wards that were contested in the Cannock Chase District Council elections, with Chase Community Independent candidate Paul Woodhead taking the Hednesford South ward.
Verification of the votes was completed yesterday, so the results have come in quickly.
Prior to the election, Labour had a majority of three and they were defending nine of the 13 seats being contested.
These results put the Conservatives firmly in charge.
Elsewhere in Staffordshire, there is also the Tamworth Borough Council local election results also due today.
Ten of the 30 seats - one for each ward - are being contested.
Labour makes historic gain in Bridgnorth
An interesting result from the Shropshire Council elections.
Julia Buckley, a candidate for Labour in the last two general elections, has won a seat in Bridgnorth,
It's the first time since Shropshire Council was created as a unitary authority that a Labour candidate has been elected there.
The other person to be elected there is the Conservative Les Winwood.
First Staffordshire result a Tory gain
We've just had the first result of the day in from the Staffordshire Council elections and it's a Conservative gain.
Derrick Huckfield has won in the Keele, Knutton and Silverdale ward - the ward most affected by the controversial Walley's Quarry landfill site.
MP calls election results a 'wake up call' for Labour
The Perry Barr MP Khalid Mahmood has called yesterday's election of a Conservative MP in Hartlepool as a "wake up call" for the party,
In an article written for the Policy Exchange think tank he also predicted Labour will lost the West Midlands mayoral election and said: "in the past decade, Labour has lost touch with ordinary British people."
Mr Mahmood, who stood down as a shadow cabinet member last month saying he wanted more time to combat the threat of extremism, also said it had become a party that held more appeal to "rich urban liberals and young university graduates"
And he said they had become seen as a party that had "lost its way".
He said part of the solution was to engage voters at a local level and listen to their concerns.
When will we get the result of the mayoral vote?
Kathryn Stanczyszyn
Political Reporter, BBC Radio WM
So when will we get a result in the West Midlands mayoral election?
There was speculation that yesterday’s blue sweep could mean a very good day for the Conservative candidate Andy Street and he could possibly even win it from first preference votes.
Fellow-Conservative Ben Adams won the Staffordshire Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner vote without the need to look at second preference votes yesterday.
But it was very close in the mayoral vote last time around.
First few Shropshire results declared overnight
Some counting has already been done in Shropshire and we had the first 13 results late last night.
There were seven Conservatives elected, four Labour candidates and two Greens.
Yesterday there was talk a couple of senior Conservatives, including council leader Peter Nutting, could be at risk.
We'll find out if those rumours were true when we get the results from the count at Shrewsbury Sports Village.
