  1. Road closed due to fallen treepublished at 18:59 Greenwich Mean Time 21 January

    West Mercia Police said it was at the scene of a fallen tree on the A4023 in Redditch.

    The road has been closed in both directions and drivers are advised to find alternate routes.

  2. Stronger winds expected in coming hourspublished at 18:47 Greenwich Mean Time 21 January

    Storm Isha has already brought winds in excess of 50mph this afternoon with a gust at Shawbury in Shropshire of 54mph but we are expecting even stronger winds in the coming hours.

    The storm will continue to track across the Midlands this evening, potentially bringing winds in excess of 60mph - strong enough to cause widespread damage and disruption to transport and power.

    A Met Office amber warning is now in force until 06:00 on Monday and people are advised to stay indoors where possible.

  3. Trains cancelled between Birmingham and Londonpublished at 18:38 Greenwich Mean Time 21 January

    The severe weather has meant all services between Birmingham New Street and London Euston have been cancelled.

    Limited services remain in place between Birmingham Moor Street and London Marylebone however National Rail warns this line is also likely to be affected by Storm Isha.

    Earlier, Avanti West Coast warned against travel due to the risk of gusts reaching up to 90mph and the operator suspended services earlier this afternoon.

    London Northwestern Railway services have also been cancelled and some passengers were left stranded at stations.

    Passengers are urged to check their journeys.

  4. Warnings against travelling amid Storm Ishapublished at 18:19 Greenwich Mean Time 21 January

    Avanti West Coast has advised train passengers not to travel today, as Storm Isha creates disruption.

    It says tickets dated 21 January will be valid on Monday 22 or Tuesday 23 January, or can be exchanged for a refund.

    An amber weather warning is in force by the Met Office for the West Midlands, and much of the rest of the UK, during Storm Isha.

    Many places are likely to see gusts of 50-60mph.

    The Met Office said issuing these weather warnings highlights the possibility of travel disruption, power cuts and dangerous conditions near the coast with high waves and flying debris
