  3. Keeping rough sleepers warmpublished at 18:36 Greenwich Mean Time 22 February

    A severe weather emergency protocol has been activated, external to help rough sleepers off the streets in Worcestershire.

    It means a number of locations will be open tomorrow night to receive those in need of support during the forecast cold weather.

    You're being asked to flag cases of rough sleeping, external online, so help can be dispatched.

    We've had a response from National Highways, after our report on the families in Bickenhill, Solihull, who say they've been trapped three times in two months by floods in one direction and ongoing roadworks in the other.

    Project Manager Adam Gallis said: “We appreciate how frustrating this situation is for the residents of St Peter’s Lane.

    “The area of flooding is outside our scheme boundary and the responsibility of the local authority but we have visited those affected.

    "We explained that our work to reconstruct and realign Catherine de Barnes Lane, which will tie it into the new Bickenhill Roundabout, is unfortunately at a stage where we cannot reopen the junction, even for a short period, until the water level subsides.

    "The road surface is not suitable to drive on, even under supervision from our site team.

    "We continue to liaise with the local authority to see if there is anything we can do to help those affected.”

  7. Twenty-five flood warnings in place across regionpublished at 17:55 Greenwich Mean Time 22 February

    The Environment Agency has issued dozens of flood warnings and alerts across the West Midlands as rivers continue to swell.

    There are currently 25 live warnings, external across Shropshire, Herefordshire, Worcestershire, Warwickshire, Staffordshire, Birmingham and the Black Country, meaning flooding to properties is expected.

    The agency says incident response staff are out and about checking river levels and clearing debris from watercourses, with more rain expected in the next 24 hours.

  8. Kenilworth Ford flooded againpublished at 17:39 Greenwich Mean Time 22 February

    BBC Weather Watcher SteveC shared this picture of Kenilworth Ford, Warwickshire, where floodwater has caught out numerous drivers over the years.

    The ford crosses Finham Brook on the B4103 Castle Road.

    Warwickshire Police previously warned motorists against attempting to drive through it, external after responding to a car user who became stuck.

    A burst main in Langdale Drive, Worcester, has caused water to cascade down both sides of the road.The road has been shut while emergency repairs are carried out.

  11. Homeowners trapped by floods for third timepublished at 17:02 Greenwich Mean Time 22 February

    Residents on a lane in Bickenhill, Solihull, say they've been trapped in their homes by floods for the third time in two months.

    St. Peter's Lane was already blocked by roadworks in one direction, and the heavy rain has now closed their only other access route.

    Andrew Collinson told us: "We can't drive, we can't get people to come in to us. We've got a carer that needs to see my elderly mother-in-law who's got Alzheimer's, and also we can't go to work."

    The BBC has approached the firm carrying out the roadworks for comment.

  13. Rescue from van near Staffordpublished at 16:35 Greenwich Mean Time 22 February

    Staffordshire Fire Service has repeated warnings to stay out of flood water after rescuing a man who was trapped inside a van near Stafford.

    Crews from Stafford and Penkridge went to Dale Lane in Haughton, which is subject to a road closure, at about 12:30 GMT.

    They say he was brought to safety without injury.You can see the extent of the flooding in the area in these pics which Staffordshire photographer Ian Knight, external shared with us.

    BBC Weather Watchers have been sharing their pictures of a very wet West Midlands.

    Littlesacorns captured a vehicle driving floodwater in Southam, Warwickshire.

    A UK Met Office warning for heavy rain is in place for the county until 18:00 GMT.

  15. Herefordshire roads updatepublished at 15:56 Greenwich Mean Time 22 February

    Herefordshire Council says Bromyard Road in Ledbury, external (the B4214) has been closed by flooding.

    This means the 417 and 673 bus services will have to go via the A438 and Ashperton before resuming the usual routes until the closure is lifted, missing out Staplow.

    Some main roads which remain open still have significant amounts of water on them.

    This is the A44 Worcester Road in Stretford near Leominster.

  17. Waste crews hampered by flooded roadspublished at 15:19 Greenwich Mean Time 22 February

    Residents expecting their food waste to be collected in Aston Cantlow, Warwickshire, have been told refuse crews are unable to get through flooded areas.

    Stratford District Council said Biffa would attempt collection again on Friday, external.

    The Environment Agency has issued a flood alert due to rising water levels on the River Alne, with flooding possible on low-lying land.

  18. More schools shutpublished at 15:02 Greenwich Mean Time 22 February

    Details of a few more schools which have closed today amid the flooding.

    In Herefordshire, Pencombe primary is shut because of treacherous road conditions in the area.

    It's the same for Buildwas school, not far from the River Severn in Shropshire, where several people struggled to get in this morning.

    And in Warwickshire, Great Alne school is also closed.

  19. Latest Worcestershire road closurespublished at 14:46 Greenwich Mean Time 22 February

    Worcestershire County Council has updated its list of main road closures, external in the county because of flooding.

    On the River Avon, Jubilee Bridge and Mill Bank are closed in Fladbury, as well as Brook Lane in Cropthorne and Eckington Bridge. Waterside in Evesham could be closed overnight.

    Along the Teme, New Mill Bridge in Shelsley Beauchamp is shut, while on the Severn, New Street in Upton is also inaccessible.

    Several other roads have water on them too - Ben Sidwell of BBC Midlands Today took this shot in Crowle.

    The Environment Agency says crews are out across the region, external, clearing debris to keep water flowing as freely as possible in rivers and streams.

    The Agency hopes keeping debris screens clear will keep more water where it should be, with further rain forecast.
