    We've just heard the count for the referendum on a council tax increase to fund more police officers in Bedfordshire starts at 10:00.

    It's taking place across the county, with the result being announced at the Inspire swimming pool at about 15:00.

    Boreham Wood FC, external will play in non-league football's top tier next season for the first time in its history after winning the Conference South play-off final on Saturday.

    They beat Whitehawk 2-1 after extra time, with Junior Morias the match-winner.

    The fifth tier of English football, currently the Conference Premier, will officially become the Vanarama National League next season.

    The grandson of a 101-year-old Luton woman threatened with legal action if she doesn't pay her care bills has told BBC Three Counties Radio he "doesn't have control over her monies" yet.

    First reported in the Luton News, external, David Gore received an invoice for £600 whilst waiting for power of attorney for his grandmother Muriel Gore - a process which takes four weeks.

    Luton Borough Council said the letter was automatically issued by their computer system and a further letter has been sent confirming the action has been suspended.

    Bedfordshire Police say traffic may be disrupted by a large funeral procession passing through Dunstable and Houghton Regis this afternoon.

    Drivers are advised there may be congestion in the Houghton Road and High Street area in Houghton Regis and Chiltern Road and West Street in Dunstable between midday and 16:00.

    The funeral is for Adam Fanelli, 31, who was found dead at Nash Park travellers' site on 17 March. Two people have been charged with his murder, a third man was arrested on suspicion of murder.

    Stevenage drew 1-1 at home to Southend United in their League Two play-off semi-final first leg on Sunday.

    Dean Parrett's 25-yard effort to put Boro in front after 51 minutes was cancelled out nine minutes later by The Shrimpers' Barry Corr.

    The second leg is at Southend on Thursday.

    Pet snakes and spiders have been killed in a suspected arson attack in St Albans in the early hours of Saturday.

    They were in a horsebox parked in Keswick Close which was set alight sometime before 03:40, Hertfordshire Police said.

    Officers are investigating the cause of the fire.

    The result of a referendum on a council tax increase to fund more police officers in Bedfordshire is due later today.

    The ballot on whether to support an increase of 15.85% in tax levied for policing took place alongside voting in the general election.

    Counting is due to begin after midday.

    There's slow traffic southbound on the A1(M) in Hertfordshire, with one lane blocked between J6 for the A1000 at Welwyn and J4 for the A414 due to a bus fire.

    Drivers will also find congestion on the M40 in Buckinghamshire just before J1a for the M25 due to an earlier accident. All lanes have been re-opened but traffic is slow back to J3 for the A40.
