    A woman raising money for cancer research by wearing charity shop outfits every day for a year put her entire collection up for sale last night.

    Caroline Jones, 47, from Harpenden, began Knickers Model's Own in memory of her mother Mary Benson, who died of breast cancer last October.

    About 1,000 items of clothing and accessories went sale at Harpenden Public Halls - we'll bring you news of how much she raised later.

  3. Wixams residents disappointed over station delaypublished at 09:25

    Residents living in Wixams, external - a development off the A6 between Luton and Bedford - say they're disappointed that a planned train station is still no closer to being built.

    Work started on the development in 2007 and the station was due to be completed this year, but some residents who moved to the area for the train station, are disappointed and are considering moving away. 

    Developers Gallagher Estates, external say the delivery of the station is not in their control and they're working with Network Rail to secure the necessary agreements to bring the station forward.

  4. Leon Briggs memorial goes up against police advicepublished at 09:16

    A memorial plaque for Leon Briggs has been installed outside Luton police station on the second anniversary of his death - against police advice.

    Mr Briggs died in police custody in November 2013 after being detained under the Mental Health Act.

    Bedfordshire Police, external had told his family to postpone the plaque going up while it sought legal advice on the implications and has said no decision has yet been made about taking it down.

  6. Travel: Great Northern route services 'return to normal'published at 08:46

    Train services on the Great Northern route, external between Hitchin and Royston are expected to return to normal this morning after yesterday's disruption.

    A woman was hit by a train at Letchworth Garden City yesterday morning, and was airlifted to hospital with serious leg injuries.

  7. Sharm el Sheikh flights from Luton Airport suspendedpublished at 08:28

    All flights between the UK and Sharm el Sheikh in Egypt have been suspended including Easyjet flights to and from London Luton airport, external

    The Luton-based holiday company Thomson says its cancelled all outbound flights to the resort up to 12 November.

    The government believes a bomb may have caused a Russian passenger plane to crash shortly after take-off on Saturday.

  8. Travel: Disruption on M25published at 08:08

    One lane is closed on the anti-clockwise M25 between J17 for Maple Cross and J16 for the M40 because of a broken down lorry.

    Meanwhile, a lane is blocked clockwise, just after J24 for the A111 at Potters Bar due to an accident, with congestion back to J23 for the A1(M).
