    A teenager from Hemel Hempstead who posted intimate photos of his ex-girlfriend - who had been 16 at the time - on the internet after they split up has been told by a judge it was a "breach of trust".

    The 19-year-old was given a two year conditional discharge and ordered to pay £500 compensation to her, as well as £200 towards the prosecution's costs. He had pleaded guilty to distributing indecent photos of a child.

    As the boy left St Albans Crown Court with his current girlfriend the judge told her not to send him photos of herself.

    Aylesbury United, external has announced their first team coach, Gary Hawksworth, has died suddenly at the age of 52. 

    He passed away yesterday from a suspected heart attack while on holiday in the Maldives.

    Parents have been warned to stay alert after a child from Dunstable was diagnosed with swine flu, external. The pupil at Watling Lower School is currently being treated at Great Ormond Street Hospital.

    A man who raised £40,000 to pay for a nurse to treat patients at Keech Hospice, external in Luton for a year has met her for the first time.

    Tony Jules, 63, from Sundon Park in Luton, who has terminal prostate cancer, began his fundraising campaign in August 2015 and achieved his target within five months.

    Staff nurse Lisa Jarman said: "I've never cared for a patient like Tony who, at the end of his life, still thinks about the needs of others before his own."

  10. Great train robbery remembered after Gordon Goody diespublished at 15:40

    Gordon Goody, whose death was announced today, was one of a 15-strong gang, led by Bruce Reynolds, who attacked a Royal Mail train heading between Glasgow and London at Sears Crossing in Buckinghamshire on 8 August 1963.

    The robbers got away with £2,631,684, which would be worth £46m today, but were caught after they holed up and left fingerprints in the empty Leatherslade Farm near Brill.

    Train driver Jack Mills was struck over the head during the robbery and never worked again. He died in 1970.

    The trial of a man charged with the murder of Nicola Cross in Hemel Hempstead is set to go ahead in August 2016 instead of March.

    Marcin Porczynski, 23, of Claymore Avenue in Hemel, is accused of stabbing Mrs Cross to death at her family home in neighbouring Dunlin Road last September. He is also accused of kidnapping two children and burglary. 

    Porczynski appeared at St Albans Crown Court via a video link from Woodhill Prison in Milton Keynes today. His barrister told the court he has agreed to see a defence psychiatrist.

  13. Train robber Gordon Goody: 'End of an era' as train robber diespublished at 14:54 Greenwich Mean Time 29 January 2016

    Gordon Goody, who has died today, was the last surviving member of the gang which carried out the Great Train Robbery at Ledburn in Buckinghamshire.

    Michael Biggs, son of one of the most famous of the robbers, Ronnie Biggs, said: "It's the end of an era. Now it's all down to the history books."

    Goody, a hairdresser before the 1963 robbery, was jailed for 30 years for his role in the 1963 heist.

    Gordon Goody had been living in the southern Spanish town of Mojacar, where he ran a bar.

    He was one of the last surviving memebrs of the Great Train Robbery gang.

    A statement from the local town hall said he had died surrounded by friends. It did not reveal the cause of death.

    Gordon Goody, one of the last surviving members of the Great Train Robbery gang, has died aged 86, more than 50 years on from the famous heist.

    Goody was jailed for 30 years for his part in the 1963 raid in which a gang stopped the Glasgow-Euston overnight mail train as it passed through the Buckinghamshire countryside close to Cheddington.

    He was released in 1975 and died in Spain, where he ran a bar in the town of Mojacar.

  16. Travel: Delays on Thameslink linepublished at 14:00

    A man serving time for burglary, dangerous driving and stealing a car has disappeared from Hollesley Bay open prison in Suffolk.

    Anthony Lee, 19, was reported as missing after a roll call at 17:30 on Wednesday night. 

    He has connections with the Hertfordshire area, police said.

    Two directors of an American-style summer camp, LL Camps in Bushey, have appeared at St Albans Crown Court to deny charges involving children.

    Ben Lewis (pictured left), 25, from Borehamwood, pleaded not guilty to two offences of making indecent photos of a child, two offences of making indecent photos of children, attempting to observe a person doing a private act and two offences of taking indecent photos of a child. He also denies possessing indecent images of children.

    Tal Landsman (pictured right), 25, from Stevenage, pleaded not guilty to a single charge of cruelty to a person under 16.

    The Metropolitan Police's Counter Terrorism Command, external has said the jailing of two Luton men for promoting IS outside Top Shop in Oxford Circus shows supporting a terrorist organisation "even through the distribution of propaganda will not be tolerated".

    Commander Dean Haydon also praised two members of public who were disturbed by what they saw and reported it.

    He said: "I encourage anyone with similar concerns to come forward and call the confidential anti-terrorist hotline or tell police."
