    A man was run over by a van driver following an altercation in Hoddesdon, police say.

    The two van drivers got into an argument at the Ware Road, Duke Street roundabout on 7 March after 13:00.

    One driver got out of his van, while the other remained in his vehicle and drove at the victim before leaving the scene.

  6. Minibus crash driver 'drifted off'published at 13:02

    A minibus driver has admitted he "drifted off" or had a blackout in a crash in which a baby in a car seat was thrown out onto the hard shoulder.

    Ian Scrivener, 35, of Milton Keynes, admitted careless driving on a road in Scotland last June. He also admitted driving with only a provisional licence and no insurance.

    Dumfries Sheriff Court heard the baby had to be taken to hospital in Glasgow with a head injury after the crash. Sheriff Brian Mohan said Scrivener had a record of driving offences and deferred sentence for a month.

    An independent investigation into the death of a man at Luton Police Station in 2013 has finished.

    Leon Briggs, 39, died in hospital in November 2013 after becoming unresponsive while he was detained by Bedfordshire Police in a cell.

    The IPCC, external Commissioner, Mary Cunneen, states there is an indication a police detention officer, two police constables and three sergeants  "may have committed criminal offences". The case has been referred to the CPS, external.

    A public meeting is being held tonight in the continuing row over the town hall in Hitchin, where a long running dispute has led to delays in the re-developed town hall and museum re-opening.

    Tonight's meeting has been organised by The Future of Hitchin Town Hall and Museum, external Facebook group, which claims the delay has already cost residents more than £1m.

    The delays have been put down to a dispute between North Herts District Council, external and the company which used to run the site Hitchin Town Hall Limited.

    Bedfordshire Police officers could face criminal charges over the death of Leon Briggs in police custody in Luton in 2013.

    After a lengthy investigation, the Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC) has referred the case to the Crown Prosecution Service.

    The IPCC Commissioner, Mary Cunneen, said there is an "indication five officers and a member of staff may have committed criminal offences."

    Watford supporters snapped up more than 2,000 tickets overnight for Sunday's FA Cup quarter-final away to Arsenal.

    The tickets went on sale online after the Gunners won 4-0 at Hull in last night's replay. 

    Watford have been allocated 9,000 tickets for the sixth round tie at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday at 13:30.

    Watford will travel to Arsenal in the FA Cup quarter-finals after the Gunners won 4-0 at Hull in last night's fifth round replay.

    The sixth round tie will be at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday at 13:30.

    Last night's win did come at a cost for Arsene Wenger's side as they suffered injuries to Per Mertesacker, Gabriel and Aaron Ramsey.

  18. Hatton Garden raid: Six men due to be sentencedpublished at 10:18 Greenwich Mean Time 9 March 2016

    Six men involved in the £14m Hatton Garden raid are due to be sentenced today, including one man from Hertfordshire.

    The gang carried out the break-in over the Easter weekend last year, using a drill to bore a hole into the vault wall.

    The six include Carl Wood (pictured), 59, from Cheshunt, who was convicted of conspiracy to commit burglary and conspiracy to conceal, convert or transfer criminal property, after a trial at Woolwich Crown Court.

    Milton Keynes Dons are just a point clear of the Championship relegation zone after last night's 0-0 draw away at Charlton.

    The Dons are now a point ahead of Rotherham who beat Middlesbrough, and the draw did move Karl Robinson's side to just a point behind Fulham and Bristol City who both lost.

    He said: "I thought for 45 minutes we were excellent, I thought we dominated the game from the first whistle... the second half, other than the hustle and the bustle and some of the horrific play from them, we were very, very comfortable."
