  1. Smoking ban among options for three West Midlands hospitalspublished at 08:58

    A total ban on smoking could be introduced at Sandwell General, City and Rowley Regis hospitals. 

    It is one of several options being considered by Sandwell and West Birmingham Hospitals NHS Trust - one of which, is to introduce fixed penalty notices to smokers. 

    Earlier this year - in June - Redditch's Alexandra Hospital became the first fully smoke-free hospital in the West Midlands.

  2. Rebecca Kandare: Parents to be sentenced for malnourished baby killingpublished at 08:41

    A couple from Wolverhampton will be sentenced today for unlawfully killing their nine-month-old daughter. 

    Brian and Precious Kandare from Wednesfield pleaded guilty to manslaughter at Nottingham Crown Court yesterday afternoon. 

    Rebecca died of pneumonia, as a result of malnourishment, after being taken to hospital on 6 January 2014.

    Stourbridge are determined to make club history by reaching round three of the FA Cup after seeing off Dover Athletic, says boss Gary Hackett.

    The Glassboys beat their National League hosts 2-1 to put their name in the hat for the second round draw, and they have now drawn Eastleigh from the National League Premier.
