  1. Staffordshire Police 'judgemental' of domestic abuse victimspublished at 13:40

    Some victims of domestic abuse are treated by Staffordshire Police in a "judgemental and unsupportive" way and are not being adequately protected, a government inspection has found. 

    The report said a number of officers discouraged victims reporting abuse and allegations were disbelieved.

    The force was also criticised for not carrying out risk assessments in domestic abuse cases. 

    Chief Constable, Jane Sawyers, said she was "addressing all the issues raised".

    Tonight, a remembrance service will be held in Birmingham for the victims of the Peshawar School attack in Pakistan and this morning we were joined in the BBC WM studios by an incredibly brave and courageous 14-year-old boy.

    Ahmad Nawaz was injured last year in the attack and now lives in Birmingham after coming here for treatment. He told me about his memories of that day.

  4. Landlord fined for evicting mum and sonpublished at 12:08

    A landlord who dumped his tenants' belongings in their garden is fined for illegally evicting the mother and her 11-year-old son.

    Sead Alimajstorovic, 38, of Bordesley Green, Birmingham, carried out a threat of changing the locks at the Kings Heath home in July.

    After the tenant regained access via a locksmith, he arranged for the locks to be drilled out, the city council said.

    Chief Constable, Jane Sawyers, from Staffordshire Police, says the force is addressing all the issues raised in the HMIC inspection, external, and has taken immediate action to develop a range of improvements.

    Staffordshire Police is one of only four forces in the country rated inadequate in protecting vulnerable people from harm.

    The police force has seen the sharpest rise, with 16% of its total crime reported as domestic abuse in 2015, compared to 10% in 2013.

    Historic England, formerly English Heritage, is calling on people to help track down missing works of public art, including ones in Birmingham.

    Bull Forms, by Trewin Copplestone, were installed in the city centre in 1963.

    The four fibreglass bulls were put on the side of the Bullring shopping centre, external, but were taken down when the shopping centre was rebuilt.

    Staffordshire Police is one of only four forces in England and Wales rated inadequate in protecting vulnerable people from harm, especially victims of domestic violence.

    Her Majesty’s Inspectorate of Constabulary (, externalHMIC) found serious, systemic failures, external, including evidence of judgmental and unsupportive attitudes from some officers towards vulnerable victims.

    Some were discouraged from reporting domestic abuse, others had allegations judged as false before investigations had started.

    The force has been told to provide evidence of improvement by the end of January next year before a follow up inspection next Autumn.

    West Bromwich Albion record goalscorer Tony Brown says Saido Berahino is 'wasting' his career at the Hawthorns.

    Berahino has scored three goals this season, having completed just one full 90 minutes, and has been on the bench for the last three games.

    Brown told BBC WM: "It's been a waste all season, for the lad himself and for the club. Does the lad realise that he is wasting his career?"

  10. Watch: Remembrance event in Birmingham for the 150 people killed in Pakistani schoolpublished at 09:40

    The Nobel prize winner Malala Yousafzi will host a remembrance event in Birmingham tonight for the 150 people killed in an attack on an army school in Pakistan. 

    One of those injured was Ahmed Nawaz (pictured), who came to Birmingham for treatment. 

    The 14-year-old has since joined Malala's campaign for education and he and his family have been given permission to stay in the city until next year.

    There are reports of delays of up to an hour on the M42 southbound at J6, A45 (Birmingham Airport), because of an earlier accident. 

    All lanes have re-opened but congestion is at J10, A5 (Tamworth).
