A teenage girl is in a critical condition in hospital after a suspected hit-and-run in Lye last night.

Police say the girl sustained broken legs, external, a fractured skull and internal injuries.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said, external: “On arrival, it was clear that the 15-year-old had multiple serious injuries. There was no car at the location."

The murder of a mother-of-three by her estranged husband could have been prevented, an inquiry has found. 

Sana Shah suffered years of abuse from her husband Anwar - not their real names - who later admitted killing her in Wolverhampton in March 2014. 

Risk assessments about her welfare were poor, or not picked up resulting in interventions not being made, the report said. 

Several recommendations have been made to the Safer Wolverhampton Partnership.

From next year people living in Walsall will have their rubbish collected every fortnight instead of every week. 

Councillors approved the plans after a consultation, external, but households with more than three people in it can apply for a bigger one if they can prove they need it.

The new collections are due to begin in October 2016.
