Shadow Chancellor John McDonnell has told this programme he would support a campaign for a full investigation into the 1974 Birmingham pub bombings.

The law which has allowed people to be convicted of murder even if they did not inflict the fatal blow - so-called joint enterprise - has been wrongly interpreted for more than 30 years, the Supreme Court has ruled.

It is thought today's decision could pave the way for hundreds of prisoners to seek appeals.

In January 2003, Letisha Shakespeare (pictured left) and Charlene Ellis (pictured right) were shot dead in Aston in Birmingham - victims of a drive-by shooting. Four men were found guilty of their murders and "joint enterprise" was central to securing the convictions.

Letisha's mother, Marcia Shakespeare, today said: "I'm not so much worried about my case because my case was not solely based on joint enterprise.

"But I'm more worried about the other victims who've gone through the process of law and justice and now you're going to revert and bring heartache."
