    Two men arrested in January have been charged with terror-related offences by police., external

    Maruf Uddin, 26, of Earl Road, has been charged with one count of arranging funds or property for purposes of terrorism.

    Mohammed Atiqur Khan, 27, of Buckle Close, has also been charged with two counts of the same offence.

    Police have said there is "no immediate threat to public safety".

    West Midlands Police Counter Terrosim Unit says the two men from Walsall were originally arrested in January and were given conditional bail while further inquiries were carried out.

  3. Men linked to Birmingham 'gun or gang crime' namedpublished at 11:42 Greenwich Mean Time 23 March 2016

    The names of 18 men banned from parts of Birmingham for what police say are their links to "gun or gang crime" can be revealed by the BBC.

    Interim injunctions were obtained by West Midlands Police, but the force had declined to reveal the men's identities until permanent orders were granted.

    However, details were revealed in county court documents seen by the BBC.

    Labour MP, Khalid Mahmood, criticised the police for using civil action to tackle gun crime rather than criminal charges.

  4. West Midlands '4th worst' for animal crueltypublished at 11:05 Greenwich Mean Time 23 March 2016

    Around 1,200 complaints of animal cruelty were investigated by the RSPCA in the West Midlands last year, making it the fourth worst place in the country for animal abuse.

    The RSPCA says he's now been re-homed, but warn that dogs remain the pet people are most likely to abuse.

    Albion's Chris Brunt says he's been invited to be part of the Northern Ireland set up this summer despite injury.

    Brunt won't be able to play at the Euro's after having knee surgery last month, but says he could go as a fan, even though he admits it will be difficult to watch from the sidelines.

    Cuckoo Road in Nechells is closed in both directions between the A5127 Lichfield Road junction and the A47 Heartlands Parkway junction because of resurfacing work.

    A woman has died after a house fire in Birmingham this morning., external

    West Midlands Ambulance Service says it received a call at about 05:20 following reports of a fire at a house on Birchdale Road in Erdington.

    Firefighters rescued the woman from the property and she received CPR but died at the scene.

  8. Library lit up in national colours of Belgiumpublished at 09:45 Greenwich Mean Time 23 March 2016

    Landmarks across the world were illuminated in the national colours of Belgium last night, in solidarity for those killed in three explosions.

    Belgium has declared three days of mourning following bomb attacks in the capital on Tuesday that killed more than 30 people and wounded at least 250.  

    Last night the Library of Birmingham shone in black, yellow and red.

  9. Bus lane cameras to be introduced in West Bromwichpublished at 09:25 Greenwich Mean Time 23 March 2016

    Plans for Sandwell's first fixed bus lane cameras have finally been given the green light. , external

    About 3,000 cars a day have been ignoring the bus only signs on New Street in West Bromwich, causing delays of up to an hour at the nearby bus station. 

    CCTV cameras will be installed to catch any drivers using the bis lanes, who will then be issued with a £60 fine.

    Sandwell Council says there have been eight reported incidents of people being injured in the past five years and warns that figure "is likely to increase if no action is taken".

    A 41-year-old woman arrested after a man was stabbed at Alexander Park Stadium yesterday is continuing to be questioned by police.

    A man suffered "life threatening" injuries when he was knifed at the Birmingham stadium at about 10:30.
