  2. Deputy PCC Yvonne Mosquito suspension 'heavy-handed'published at 08:53 British Summer Time 6 April 2016

    The suspension of the West Midlands Deputy Police and Crime Commissioner was "heavy-handed", a meeting heard.

    Yvonne Mosquito was suspended last month over allegations she visited a murder victim's family without informing officers.

    But Maxie Hayles (pictured second from right) said Ms Mosquito was "an ordained minister giving condolences to a grieving family"‎ and a councillor for the area.

    He chaired a meeting of more than 100 people to discuss the suspension. Ms Mosquito has not yet commented.

  4. Police officer in court after probe into terrorist kidnap plot claimpublished at 08:14 British Summer Time 6 April 2016

    A Birmingham-based police officer is due before Stafford Crown Court later after a West Midlands Police inquiry into a "false and malicious" claim of a terrorist kidnap plot. 

    PC Amar Tasaddiq Hussain was charged after a force investigation into a high-profile security alert in December 2014. 

    The 29-year-old, who has been suspended from duty, is accused of two counts of conspiracy to pervert the course of justice and two offences of conspiracy to commit misconduct.

    Two other men, 26-year-old Adil Bashir, from Small Heath, and 31-year-old Muhammad Ali Sheikh, from Bordesley Green, face the same charges.
