    British company Liberty House has completed the £100m purchase of part of Tata Steel UK. 

    The deal secures the jobs of 1,700 workers at plants across the country including 100 jobs in Wednesbury.

    Liberty House said it was making multi-million-pound investments to secure the future of five sites across the West Midlands and the North of England.

    There are calls this morning for a public inquiry into how a breast surgeon was able to carry out needless operations on patients for more than a decade. 

    Ian Paterson is due to be sentenced after being found guilty of 17 counts of wounding with intent, relating to nine women and one man.

    Up to 350 women are bringing a High Court case for compensation over operations that took place in both NHS and private hospitals.

    It's "Super Tuesday" for political reporters Rob Mayor and I who are speaking to all six of the West Midlands mayor candidates on the campaign trail ahead of Thursday's election.

    So far I've met the UKIP, Liberal Democrat and Conservative candidates standing.

    UKIP's Pete Durnell is in Dudley with his party leader Paul Nuttal and say they're confident about support in the area.

    A woman from Worcester who was a victim of breast surgeon Ian Paterson is calling for a public inquiry into his practices.

    The 59-year-old surgeon is to be sentenced later this month after being found guilty of 17 counts of wounding with intent relating to nine women and one man

    Suffolk official Abi Marriott was left speechless after being told she will be an assistant referee at this season’s Women’s FA Cup Final, external.

    The 25-year-old from Mildenhall will be running the line at the match between Birmingham City and Manchester City at Wembley Stadium on Saturday, 13 May.

    "It is definitely the pinnacle of my career," Marriott said. 

    "Every referee dreams of walking out at Wembley for a national final."

    Abi was encouraged to take up the whistle six years ago by her fiancé and fellow referee George Byrne.

    "When I started I had no idea I would get this far, but as I’ve progressed my achievable targets have changed."

    One of the key tasks for the new "metro mayor" in this region will be selling the skills and talents of the West Midlands to the world, especially in a post-Brexit Britain, says a group of young voters.

    They were keen to talk about the benefits of one of the most creative, diverse and young cities in the country.  

    On Thursday, six people will bid to become the region's first "metro mayor", taking on powers over economic development, education and skills, housing and transport.
