West Midlands Police said, external Elvis Sidaway, 53, of Fountain Road, Edgbaston, "preyed on lone young women" as they made their way home in Birmingham.
He was charged with five counts of sexual assault by touching, for which he pleaded guilty at an earlier hearing. He pleaded not guilty to rape and three counts of possession of a knife for which he stood trial earlier this week, being found guilty on all charges.
He preyed on women in Selly Oak, Edgbaston and Quinton.

A 40-year-old man from Birmingham has been sentenced to 15 months in prison for breaching the conditions of a terrorism order.
Police say Abdul Raheem of Coleshill Road, Birmingham, was released from prison on a 10-year order after pleading guilty to terrorism offences in 2009.
According to the West Midlands Force he was arrested in 2016 for not telling police he had been using a different name.
Under the terms of the order, he was required to notify police of any changes to personal details.
Paintings and jewellery valued at £2.7m was stolen in the raid in 2009.
