    "We've got to take a lot from what we've done. The ultimate aim was always promotion and we've worked so hard to get to this position. Everybody's been on the same page.

    However they say the slip road for the A34, near Audley, will stay shut while vehicles are recovered and warn of heavy traffic reaching back to the motorway junction.

    He's had to make his way back from injury, having damaged an anterior cruciate ligament two summers ago.

    This season for the Bears, Stone's taken 37 wickets at 12.27 in just six Division Two matches, earning him his call-ups last week.

    A minor injuries unit (MIU) is set to close at weekends this winter to ease pressure on a nearby A&E unit.

    East Cheshire Clinical Commissioning Group says the move at Congleton War Memorial Hospital will allow staff to be redeployed to Macclesfield Hospital to help them with high levels of demand.

    The Congleton MIU is already closed on some weekends but now there's a plan to close it consistently from October.

    New research has revealed that many women in the Midlands worked in the mining industry during the 19th Century.

    A study - by experts at Ironbridge Gorge Museum in Shropshire - has discovered that girls - known as "Shroppies" - worked in pits across the county from as young as 13.

    All approaches to Dunton Island are congested, with drivers reporting delays of about an hour.

    A British man held in Syria by Kurdish forces has been identified as a pharmacist from Birmingham.

    Kurdish forces captured Anwar Miah in the eastern province of Deir al-Zour a month ago.

    A pharmacist of the same name from Birmingham was struck off the UK's pharmacy register in 2014 for falsifying work records.

    He was captured in territory controlled by the Islamic State group, where he said he'd been working in hospitals.

    Two people were taken to hospital after being threatened and attacked with a knife during a robbery in Handsworth.

    The pair sustained minor injuries during the attack at a store on Sandwell Road at about 12:15 on Sunday.

    A 45-year-old man and a woman aged 33 have been arrested on suspicion of robbery, said West Midlands Police.

    Two police officers were taken to hospital after they were hit by a car during a vehicle stop.

    They were struck in the Coton Fields area of Stafford just before 11:00 on Sunday said Staffordshire Police.

    One of them has leg injuries, with both taken to the Royal Stoke Hospital for treatment.

    A 25-year-old man and a 30-year-old woman, both from Stafford, have been arrested.

    Photos of thousands of girls and women are to form a giant mosaic of a suffragette to mark 100 years since the first British women won the vote.

    The art will be displayed at Birmingham New Street Station from 15 November.

    More than 3,000 photos are expected to be used in the 20m (66ft) tall work revealing the identity of an "inspiring" suffragette from the West Midlands.

    Women across the region can take part via "pop-up" photo events or anyone can contribute online at the project's website, external and by social media.
