    The government hasn't given assurances that more resources will be given to the Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust to cope with any extra demand from Telford's A&E unit closing overnight.

    Today, it's been confirmed that the emergency unit in Shropshire is expected to temporarily shut from 5 December, due to staff shortages.

    In the House of Commons, Wolverhampton North East MP Emma Reynolds, external asked the government to commit to giving New Cross hospital resources to recruit more staff "so that patients don't have to suffer longer delays".

    In response, health minister Stephen Barclay said the current model suggested 11 ambulances would be diverted from the NHS trust between the hours of 22:00 and 08:00 during the closure.

    He added that with any patients that did go to Wolverhampton, "any that are then admitted as in-patients will return to Shrewsbury and Telford, any that are discharged will be discharged from Wolverhampton".

    Crowds of people have been turning out alongside the weir in Shrewsbury today, hoping to catch a glimpse of the salmon jumping up the river.

    A number of out-of-use huts at Hereford County Hospital which were built in the 1940s have been demolished to make way for new wards.

    It's estimated about one million patients would have been admitted to the hutted wards, which were used in World War Two.

    The new, £21m, wards are expected to open in 2020 and will provide 72 beds - 34 beds more than the two hutted wards still in use for inpatients at the hospital.

    The mother of a four-year-old with a rare form of leukemia says the family have been granted medical visas to travel to the United States for treatment.

    Half a million pounds has been raised to send Zac Oliver from Broseley in Shropshire to a hospital in Philadelphia. Hannah Oliver-Willets said they were just waiting for the last of the money to be paid into their bank account.

    She also said they would started packing their suitcases and want the money as soon as possible, so they can book their flights.

    And his latest round of chemotheraphy has just come to an end, meaning he is ready to travel.

    A motorist tried to give a friend's details to the police when they stopped to help with a breakdown on the A38M in Birmingham.

    But, unfortunately for him, his friend was wanted on a warrant and he quickly gave the correct details as they were getting the handcuffs out.

    Instead he was arrested for having no licence and insurance - and for obstructing the police.

    A man has pleaded guilty to the manslaughter of a man outside a pub in Walsall.

    Shaun Addison, 27, from Furzebank Way in Willenhall, also pleaded guilty to a charge of assault and has been remanded in custody for sentencing at Wolverhampton Crown Court on 23 November.

    Police said the victim, 31-year-old Matthew Powney, was a bystander outside The Malthouse in Walsall in July.

    A spokesperson for JD Wetherspoon previously confirmed Mr Powney worked at The Malthouse.

    The Environment Agency says it's happened at Norton Canes, near Cannock, but hasn't put a figure on how many fish are dead.

    They say they are pumping oxygen into the pool and are working to clear the pool while Severn Trent Water is repairing a burst sewage main.

    A nightspot will not be demolished for the time being after councillors held off making a decision on plans to build a multi-storey car park in its place.

    Cheshire East Council considered giving the go-ahead for the six-storey, 243-space car park to be built behind the Royal Hotel, in Nantwich Road, Crewe.

    But earlier today, they agreed more information was needed about the height and appearance of the car park, which is behind the locally-listed hotel.

    A decision about the future of The Box music venue will be made at a future strategic planning board meeting.

    Police say they're going to use a suspect's trainers to try and track him down after a vehicle rammed one of its police cars.

    Officers were first called earlier this morning to Remembrance Road, Willenhall, to reports of three men in a car trying to get into homes.

    When they arrived, they say a black Jaguar then rammed their car and, after a chase, crashing further down the road.

    The trio then ran off but one of them lost their trainers.
