    A third report of a fox being killed at a hunt in Cheshire is being investigated by police.

    The force is already examining two deaths in January, one near Chester and one outside Winsford.

    Now, it's confirmed another inquiry's been launched after officers were told a fox had been killed during a hunt in Hack Green, near Nantwich.

    The news comes after hundreds of protesters demanded tougher police action against fox hunts in a demonstration at the weekend outside Cheshire Police's headquarters.

    The Conservative MP for Solihull, Julian Knight, has raised concerns about funding for Citizens Advice services in his constituency.

    Speaking at Prime Minister's Questions, he called the organisation a "cornerstone of my community for over four decades" and said he was dismayed to its funding cut by Conservative-run Solihull Council.

    David Lidington, who was standing in for the prime minister today, said he thought the local authority would hear the message.

    West Brom will be without three players for sure for their FA Cup fourth round replay tonight at home to Brighton.

    Loanees Stefan Johansen and Jefferson Montero are ineligible after joining after the original game, while Jacob Murphy is cup-tied.

    On the injury front, Matt Phillips and James Morrison are both doubts because of ankle injuries.

    Whoever wins the replay will get a home tie against Derby County in the fifth round.

    Strikes on Arriva Rail North have been suspended after a "major breakthrough" in a long-running dispute over plans to axe guards on trains, a union said.

    Members of the Rail, Maritime and Transport union (RMT) have taken 47 days of industrial action and were due to walk out on the next two Saturdays.

    Passengers have faced huge disruption since the dispute began two years ago.

    The RMT said the company had now offered a guarantee of a conductor on all trains.

    An appeal to raise £4,000 to pay for the funeral of a Warwickshire crash victim has passed the halfway mark in just one day.

    Paddy Adams set up a fundraising page for his 60-year-old mother, Maggie, after she was hit by a car on Bilton Road, Rugby, on Sunday evening.

    He described her as a committed volunteer and "an absolute saint who would do anything for everyone", adding "I want to give her the send off i that I feel like she deserves".

  7. New train station to open before the end of the yearpublished at 16:57 Greenwich Mean Time 6 February 2019

    The new Worcestershire Parkway railway station, external will be open "towards the end of the year" Worcestershire County Council has said today.

    It also said the main station building was now nearing completion and work was under way on the 500-place car park.

    The local authority said construction was due to finish in the summer, but it had to go through months of testing before it could open to passengers.

    That includes training of station staff and train drivers and inspections of the facilities.

    Plans to demolish a Birmingham flyover in a bid to improve traffic in time for the Commonwealth Games are being described as "utter madness" by a councillor.

    Knocking down the A34 Birchfield flyover and replacing the roundabout with a four-way traffic signal has been put forward as the preferred option ahead of a cabinet meeting next week., external

    If approved the £27.1m project will be finished before the 2022 Games.

    But Liberal Democrat Councillor Jon Hunt says the demolition will mean "two years of chaos" in the north west of the city while the flyover is removed.

    The authority says the recommended scheme was chosen in favour of two others as it would see the least amount of disruption to local residents in the years leading up to the games.

    Two people who set up fundraising groups following a fatal fire in Stafford have praised the local community for rallying around after the blaze.

    Four children, aged between three and eight, died in the fire on Sycamore Lane, Highfields, yesterday morning.

    Their mother and her partner leapt from a first-floor window with the siblings' two-year-old brother.

    Jane Hardy, who launched a Facebook page to rally support, says it "just felt like I needed to do something" and "the outpouring was overwhelming".

    While Stephen Glover, who set up a crowdfunding site which has raised over £20,000 says "we are a great community and it was great to see lots of people pulling together".

    Two men, armed with a shotgun and a knife, have robbed a Co-op in Warwickshire.

    Police say they entered the store on New Street in Dordon at 11:20 and got away with cash and cigarettes, after threatening staff.

    Warwickshire Police called it a "terrifying ordeal for the staff in the store" and believes they got away in a silver Peugeot.

    The University of Warwick says it will carry out external and internal reviews into its disciplinary proceedings.

    It comes after hundreds of students protested this afternoon against a ban being lifted on two students involved in an online group chat that threatened rape.

    The men were barred from the campus for 10 years, but this was reduced to 12 months after they appealed. They have since said they will not return.

    The university had earlier said it was committed to ensuring student safety.

    The ex-boyfriend of a woman who was found dead in her West Bromwich home on New Year's Eve is set to go on trial in May after pleading not guilty to her murder.

    Michael Foran appeared via video link at Wolverhampton Crown Court alongside Keith O'Dwyer, who is accused of helping him evade arrest by taking him to Merseyside.

    Mr Foran, 32, of no fixed abode, denied murdering 33-year-old June Jones.

    Mr O'Dwyer, 34, of Beaconview Road, West Bromwich, pleaded not guilty to a charge of assisting an offender.

    Both were remanded into custody with the judge saying they would go on trial on 28 May, with it due to last for up to three weeks.

    Former world indoor champion Dwain Chambers is to make his latest return to athletics at the age of 40 this weekend in Birmingham.

    He'll line up in the 60m at the British Indoor Championships on Saturday.

    Chambers was banned for doping in 2004 but returned to the sport in 2006 and won the 60m world indoor title in 2010.

    He has only competed twice since officially retiring in July 2017.

    The top two in Birmingham will automatically be selected for next month's European Indoors in Glasgow, provided they meet the qualifying time of 6.60secs.

    Shrewsbury's new public swimming baths have to make people say "wow", the Shropshire councillor responsible for leisure has said.

    The unitary authority has changed its mind about moving it to a new site and is preparing to build a new one on the existing town centre site, near the Quarry park.

    Councillor Lezley Picton is expecting it to open in three years' time and said "we want it to be cutting edge when it opens" and added "I think there's going to be a lot of architectural interest in this".

    Doctors and the Rector of Ludlow are suggesting using Mortimer Forest on the Shropshire-Herefordshire border to help people with mental health problems.

    They want to introduce a Japanese concept, known as forest bathing, which uses the natural surroundings to reduce stress and improve well-being.

    It follows the scrapping of plans for a luxury cabin complex in the forest and some people living nearby are want reassurances there is no chance of any similar proposals in the future.
