Villagers in Wolverhampton have voted overwhelmingly to keep an historic paddling pool open – despite calls to turn it into an outdoor gym instead.
Following development work carried out in the area which saw funds being left over, the council launched a public consultation offering two alternative proposals – to repair and revamp the Tettenhall pool, or to build outdoor gym equipment at the site.
The pool, first shown on a map in 1613, was a former duck pond and it was converted into a paddling pool at the expense of the Graham family, the owners of the Express & Star newspaper.
Specialist contractors will now carry out the repair work needed on the water treatment mechanisms, said the council.
With temperatures set to drop overnight councils are preparing to treat icy roads.
Here are the plans from some of our councils:

Read MoreBirmingham City Council is urging Unite the union to continue talks in an attempt to resolve a dispute that has led to some workers taking strike action.

Howard Beckett, the union's general secretary, said the council had "created this dispute, so it's up to the council to resolve this dispute".
"Please put yourselves in the shoes of my members and understand why we've had to take this action, and please blame the council for it," he added.
"We would urge Unite to continue talks as we want to resolve this matter, so citizens get the refuse collection service they rightly expect and deserve," a council spokesman said.

The authorities say the change is so collections can start earlier to avoid rush hour, and finish in the light by 15:30 for safety.
But, before people go changing their alarm clocks, they do say residents can still put them out the night before.
