    A Hereford primary school could get a £4.6m expansion, to allow it to cater for an extra 30 pupils.

    Herefordshire Council also wants to create 53 car parking spaces and improve access to Marlbrook Primary School.

    The school, which is rated as outstanding by Ofsted, caters for 60 pupils at the moment and has been oversubscribed since 2011.

    Temporary classrooms have previously been set up there to allow it to take in more children.

    Trains are now running normally again through Stafford after repairs to a bridge which was damaged by a vehicle yesterday.

    Network Rail engineers had to close the line earlier, to make it safe.

    Collis King has lived in the UK for 45 years and is married to a British citizen, but has been blocked from re-entering the country due to issues with his visa.

    The railway line near Hereford has been cleared after an earlier train fire, but Network Rail is warning that delays are likely to continue into the evening, affecting services until at least 18:00.

    Nobody was hurt, but around 80 people had to be evacuated from the train when smoke was spotted rising from the middle carriage this morning.

    The funeral of England's World Cup winning goalkeeper, Gordon Banks, will take place on 4 March at Stoke Minister, it has been announced.

    The former Stoke City and Leicester City player passed away earlier this week aged 81.

    That date has special poignancy as it marks the 47th anniversary of Stoke City’s League Cup triumph in 1972.

    A nightclub in Wolverhampton that had its licence suspended following a stabbing outside the venue last month is to have its new application reviewed by the city council next week.

    The Outback in Queen Street was linked to the incident last month when police were called to reports of a disturbance.

    The victim, from Birmingham, suffered three stab wounds to the back.

    Four men arrested on suspicion of serious assault have been released on bail.

    People in Herefordshire will be paying 4.9% more in council tax from April.

    Councillors have approved the rise and have ring-fenced 2% of the money raised for adult social care.

    Students and pupils across the UK have gone on strike as part of a global campaign calling for action over climate change.

    Young people around the country, including Birmingham, walked out of school to call on the government to declare a climate emergency and take active steps to tackle the problem.

    Organisers Youth Strike 4 Climate said protests were taking place in more than 60 towns and cities across the UK.

    Telford Tigers could take a giant step towards a league title this weekend, with home and away fixtures against Hull Pirates.

    Two victories would see them open up a six-point gap over their title-rivals with just six games remaining.

    Telford won their previous league-meeting 5-4 after overtime last month and the Pirates will have two ex-Tigers in their line-up, Lubomir Kohorn and Matty Davies.

    A man suffered a broken hip following a serious attack in a pub in Rugby, police say.

    Officers are appealing for information after the incident in the Half Moon pub, in Lawford Road on Wednesday.

    It's believed the 56-year-old victim was assaulted following a row, and says he fell through a doorway after being pushed by the suspect.

    Industrial action by Birmingham refuse collectors could be extended, after union members backed a further ballot.

    Unite union members have been working to rule since 29 December over a payment given to GMB members and are set to strike twice a week from 19 February.

    It comes after a High Court judge rejected Unite's application for a temporary injunction over staffing levels on bin collection lorries, but said it might have the "better of the arguments" at a full trial - expected in May.

    Members agreed that a notice of ballot be sent out today, which could produce a "fresh mandate" to continue the industrial action, said the union.
