    A 16-year-old boy is due in court today charged with murdering a teenager who was stabbed to death.

    Hazrat Umar, 18, (pictured) was found fatally injured in Norwood Road in Bordesley Green, Birmingham, 25 February.

    He died at the scene.

    The teenager, who is from Birmingham and cannot be named for legal reasons, is set to appear at Birmingham Crown Court today.

    The funeral procession for the former England and Stoke City goalkeeper Gordon Banks will head through Stoke-on-Trent this afternoon.

    It's due to start at Stoke City's stadium at 12:15 and will pause at his statue before heading down Sir Stanley Matthews Way and down the A5035 through Blurton, Dresden and Longton.

    It then travels down Anchor Road, Dividy Road, Werrington Road and Leek Road towards City Road and Old Boothen Road, where it will pass the old Victoria Ground site.

    The procession then heads up Campbell Road, Boothen Road and the Stoke town ring road and finally Glebe Street into the Minster.

    Almost 5,000 people have been registered on a stem cell database after an appeal by the family of a desperately ill five-year-old boy, his school has said.

    Oscar Saxelby-Lee has a form of blood cancer and needs a transplant within three months of his latest round of chemotherapy or his chances of survival will “severely diminish”, his family have said.

    Pitmaston Primary School in Worcester organised an event last week and saw more than 300 people turn up in just two hours to give a swab sample and donate blood.

    The five-year-old has T-cell acute lymphoblastic leukaemia, which is particularly aggressive and progresses quickly.

    His family are urging the public to sign up to a blood stem cell register.

    A child who was born behind bars to a British woman jailed in Pakistan has been released and returned to the UK.

    Khadija Shah, from Birmingham, was arrested at Islamabad airport in 2012 and jailed for life in 2014 for smuggling 63kg (138lb) of heroin.

    Shah gave birth to daughter Malaika, now believed to be six years old, while in prison.

    Shah's family believe she was tricked into carrying heroin by traffickers.

    The Foreign Office said it "supported her family in bringing her daughter to the UK".

    The home secretary has condemned the "senseless violence" that has seen a rise in the number of teenagers being stabbed to death across the UK.

    Sajid Javid was speaking after the murders of a 17-year-old girl in east London and a boy, also aged 17, in Greater Manchester at the weekend.

    He will meet police chiefs on Wednesday to look at ways to combat violence.

    The teenagers' deaths follow the deaths of three others three teenagers dying in knife attacks in two weeks in Birmingham, causing West Midlands Police and Crime Commissioner David Jamieson to brand the situation a "national emergency".

    Hazrat Umar, 17, was killed in Bordesley Green on 25 February; Abdullah Muhammad, 16, died in Small Heath the previous week, and seven days earlier Sidali Mohamed, 16, was stabbed outside a college in Highgate.

    The Duke of Sussex is due to officially open a memorial to the victims of the two Tunisia terrorist attacks in 2015.

    Prince Harry will be at Birmingham's Cannon Hill Park - a site chosen after consultations with families.

    Thirty Britons were among 38 tourists killed by a gunman at Port El Kantaoui in an attack on 26 June. A UK tourist was one of 22 killed in a separate attack at a museum in Tunis in March.

    Its centrepiece is a sculpture titled "Infinite Wave" made up of 31 individual streams, each representing one of the British nationals who died, including four from the West Midlands.

    The daughter of England's World Cup-winning goalkeeper Gordon Banks has been speaking of the outpouring of love for her father ahead of his funeral which takes place later.

    Wendy Banks said the support had been a comfort, adding "it makes you feel very humble and proud all at the same time".

    Banks's funeral is being held at Stoke Minster on what is the 47th anniversary of Stoke City's League Cup win.

    The keeper was born in Sheffield and made almost 200 appearances for the Potters after joining them in 1967.

    Banks, who was named Fifa goalkeeper of the year six times and earned 73 caps for England, died last month at the age of 81.

    His funeral will be held at Stoke Minster on the 47th anniversary of Stoke City FC's League Cup win.

    The club said the day had "special poignancy" as Banks played a "key role" in the victory.
