    Telford has condemned the actions of some fans in the FA Trophy semi-final second leg on Saturday.

    Supt Paul Moxley from West Mercia Police said: "We are actively investigating the events on Saturday including a report of racist comments being directed towards a Leyton Orient player.

    "Such behaviour is totally unacceptable and I would appeal directly to those in the crowd on Saturday who heard or saw this to contact Telford Police and help us take action against the offender."

    Ch Supt Kevin Purcell of West Mercia Police commented after the jailing of a man over an egg attack on Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn.

    Under a new law, maximum prison terms for people found guilty of common assault against emergency workers are to double from six months to a year.

    Damage to over-head electric cables is causing train disruption.

    Services between Birmingham New Street and Redditch may be delayed or cancelled due to the damage, National Rail says.

    The disruption is expected to last until 13:00 GMT.

    Rail replacement buses are in operation while tickets will also be valid on National Express services.

    A 20-year-old has been charged over the stabbing of a man in Shrewsbury on Monday.

    It happened at about 08:30 close to Ravens Meadows and Castle Street.

    A 53-year-old man was taken to hospital with injuries not thought to be life-threatening.

    The male suspect has been charged with robbery and possession of a blade and is due to appear before magistrates on Tuesday.

    Two men have been arrested on suspicion of terrorism offences.

    A 36-year-old man from Birmingham and a 35-year-old man from Doncaster are both suspected of conspiracy to distribute terrorist publications.

    The arrests were carried out by the West Midlands Counter Terrorism Unit with the support of South Yorkshire Police.

    The pair are being questioned by officers at a police station in the West Midlands.

    Police said the arrests were pre-planned and intelligence-led.

    Searches at addresses in Birmingham and Doncaster are ongoing, officers add.

    Funding has been secured for a ring and ride transport service that went into administration last week.

    Accessible Transport Group (ATG) has 900 staff and more than 600 vehicles providing services for 72,000 registered users, including school children and adults and children with special needs.

    On Saturday it emerged ATG was in peril, but Birmingham City Council and Transport for West Midlands have agreed to provide funding to ensure there is "no interruption" to services.

    The call centre remains fully operational and people who use the service are advised to keep making contact in the usual way.

    Administrator Duff & Phelps Ltd says it is looking to secure the long term future of the service.

    A public consultation exercise is under way over plans to cut subsidies on many routes and increase ticket prices for Shrewsbury's Park and Ride.

    The proposals include axing more than a dozen routes affecting all the county's main towns.

    The cuts would save the council £455,000 a year. Proposals follow discussions with bus companies about how many passengers are using services.

    The six-week consultation programme ends on 6 May.

    West Midlands Police previously said the two adults suffered “possible life-changing injuries” in the crash which involved their people carrier in Summer Road, Erdington.

    A five-year-old child suffered a broken leg and a three-year-old had suspected internal injuries.

    A sheet of music by Sir Edward Elgar is to be auctioned later, following its discovery nearly a century after being written.

    Manuscript

    The 1924 manuscript was folded up in an autograph book which includes the signatures of Charlie Chaplin and Sir Winston Churchill.

    The book was compiled by Barnardo's matron Lydia Tabb, who retired to Gravelly Hill in Birmingham, and was found at the back of her wardrobe by a relative.
