Shropshire Council's been presenting its proposals to the government for the route around Oswestry.
Councillor Steve Davenport, portfolio holder for highways, said it was "a priority" after the local authority secured £54m from the government for Shrewsbury's bypass earlier this year.
The council says it's "very confident" it will also succeed in getting cash from the government for the A5 plans.
