Many parents did not want to talk about the situation but one who did was Rawasia Bibi who has two children at the school.

“We don’t agree with what [head teacher Sarah Hewitt-Clarkson] is teaching our children. It should be at secondary school,” she said, citing a complaint of many protesters that children there were too young to be taught about LGBT equality.

Dionne Reid, who has six-year-old twins, supports the school.

She said: “I don’t think anyone should be bullied about anything that’s prevalent in our society, my kids get really upset about it. They love Mrs Hewitt-Clarkson and they say everyone’s got rights. They don’t understand the protest."

  6. Man 'too useless' to traffic child for sexpublished at 14:48 British Summer Time 24 May 2019

A 15-year-old Telford girl has used a "large dollop of fantasy" in her account of two men accused of trafficking her to Birmingham for sex, a court heard.

Prosecutors in the child sexual exploitation trial said the teenager was "scared and coerced" into performing sex acts.

But barristers representing two of three defendants at Shrewsbury Crown Court said the girl was inconsistent in statements given to police and the proceedings.

Mark George QC, representing 22-year-old Ghamer Sulayman, who is accused of her rape and three counts of trafficking, said his client accepted taking her to Birmingham, but said she went willingly.

He said there was little evidence another visit to Birmingham - allegedly for the purpose of sex - ever happened.

Co-defendant Saleh Qasem, 19, is charged with one count of trafficking and one of sexual assault, and like Mr Sulayman denies all charges against him. Representing him, Lesley Manley raised doubts about his ability to "arrange or facilitate" trafficking her to Birmingham for sex, saying "he is no help to anyone whatsoever".

On Thursday, a third man who had "consensual" sex with the girl said he thought she was 16 - which the Crown disputes. He denies four counts of sexual activity with a child and four of child abduction.

A city marina is set for more than double its current number of houseboats.

There are 20 moorings in Worcester's Diglis Basin Marina used as permanent homes, but that's set to increase to 42 after the council backed the plan.

It pushes the proportion of the site's 110 moorings used by houseboats to 38%.

Councillor Bill Amos said: "It adds another supply of small and relatively cheap housing to the city’s affordable stock. It’s a neat and tidy development."

Some people neighbouring the site had criticised the plan, complaining about a lack of parking at the marina. The move adds another 28 spaces to the existing 63.

Users of leisure moorings have to prove they do not live permanently on their boats, although those vessels can be lived in occasionally in usage akin to a holiday home.
